Old guy Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 100% yes.Where have i stated otherwise ? I want IPL for atleast four months with matches only on weekends so that most fans can attend. So when will be "cricket" played?
BeautifulGame Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 So when will be "cricket" played? For me more than six months of international cricket which I can only watch on TV only is more than enough. I want IPL to be like EPL or NFL where Indian fans (mainly me ofcourse :winky:) have the chance to regularly watch in stadiums just like English fans has with EPL American fasn with NFL and Aussie fans with AFL. Also what exactly you mean by "cricket" ?

There is huge difference In those leagues and cultures but that is topic for another day and also why this is very short sighted approach I have exam so forgive me but we have had this discussions before so u should try to remember them

Good luck for the exam :two_thumbs_up:
JaFanatic Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Now pls make IPL a bigger tournament or play twice a year!! BCCI should plan an IPL style one day and FC tourneys feck you international criket :finger: Count me in. LOL @ buying PCB. Wasn't even required.Waiting for their chairman's heroic interview
adi B Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 i think 2 months of ipl is more than enough,i'd rather shorten it but a lengthy ipl? no way i support it..meanwhile pakis should be happy that the test championship is abolished and they'll get a chance to go for the CT :giggle:,CT is much better tbh.. BCCI will gain more revenues which is fair, this contribution cost is a fair idea.. this mutually agreed bilateral tour aint that convincing, bcci will armtwist boards to let their players participate in full IPL which will already be an extended version in exchange we will have to play meaningless odis against them :headshake: .. i think the big 3 boards were mainly convinced due to pt2 and pt 5

Also what exactly you mean by "cricket" ? i think u are correct regarding the weekend matches where we can go and watch it in the stadium but we all know that bcci will now make it a 3month tournie with 1 match played everyday rather than weekend matches.. meanwhile i'll prefer to watch a test match in the stadium (considering the tkt rates are low here in delhi) than watch daily dose of tamasha league..theres a limit to everything and IPL should be a limited tournament
SLICKR392 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 IPL could get really boring at times. The trolling on ICF makes it even more fun.
Tailender Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 So basically this is the death of cricket as we know it...
RedFever Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Bcci has decided that spreading the game of cricket around the world is not in their best interest. Why should BCCI care about spreading the game of cricket around the world. Does US care about spreading NFL around the world ?
BlackMamba Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Why should BCCI care about spreading the game of cricket around the world. Does US care about spreading NFL around the world ? Absolutely YES. USA is beginning to do that and is taking rapid strides to do that. Did you watch the Jaguars Game in London Last Year ? London is one of the cities which could end up getting an NFL team. IN fact the Londers were cheering for Jaguars..knowing there is a good chance that Shahid Khan might move that god - forsaken team to London. Economic Dynamics are changing and with it change is inevitable !

Most were American expats in london......:cantstop: and no NFL team coming to london is not going to work for the time zones and the tax rates which the players will attract.
cowboysfan Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Why should BCCI care about spreading the game of cricket around the world. Does US care about spreading NFL around the world ? What's the point of sport if you want to be so insular?.we are forgetting the primary goal of cricket and sport here.
Old guy Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 What's the point of sport if you want to be so insular?.we are forgetting the primary goal of cricket and sport here. Thank you for sanity For some reason people are proud here that India makes 80 percent of money in cricket to me it depresses me
putrevus Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 Firstly you missed several key points in my post alright. Secondly I said CA and ECB are also in the wrong' date=' I didn't defend them at all. They have however said more than the BCCI which does make it somewhat interesting. .[/quote'] I never said you said CA and ECB were right. Why are guys like you all of sudden are preaching socialism,if sharing is all what this world about then there would no poor man and no rich man.Why should others get money on account of India. 80% revenue of ICC is generated by India and Indian markets why do you think IPL is the richest tournament and why you Australia is touring India so frequently, why you think it Star sports is broadcast partner of ICC and not channel nine or Skysports. Cricket is international sport but BCCI wants its IPL and home season to be self reliant and I don't think it is a reach for that day to come, teams will visit India and IPL will be bigger than anything else in cricket at least in India. Why you think money is not going to to grass roots levels, every former cricketer who played before BCCI got wealthy was paid according to their contributions to indian cricket, they are all having excellent pensions. Local players who are not good enough to play international cricket are leading good quality life and are playing with stars in IPL and having their 15 minutes of fame. What else can any player ask from their board, this will only encourage kids to take sport in a country where kids are not sent to sports by parents. Yes there will be few rogues here and there who are more greedy and they do wrong things, cricket is like society in general , just due few bad apples why are blaming who system . Yes India is corrupt but what has that got to do with BCCI asking for its share. BCCI does not care what happens to cricket in other countries nor it should, it should bother about cricket in India, whether it become a nice sport in Australia or SA it is not BCCI problem. BCCI gets far more revenue other than the ICC's share and no one is auditing them but as fans of Indian sports we know one thing that the only sport which is self reliant in India is cricket and all cricketers are handsomely paid. Do you know what PCB is doing after taking its share from ICC/BCCI and if so why is it still broke , who is auditing PCB and who is holding them accountable so why are they getting free ride and why is ZIM not able to pay their players even though they have been taking money from ICC who is asking them. No sport will survive unless the countries who play become self reliant but now a days all other countries are sitting on their assses and waiting BCCI to bail them out. BCCI is not responsible for development of cricket in other countries. It does not have to give its share for that sake. BCCI is taking ECB and CA with them because they know they need somebody and those two are with BCCI as they know they would not survive without BCCI. CSA would have been included if not for Lorgat.
RedFever Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 What's the point of sport if you want to be so insular?.we are forgetting the primary goal of cricket and sport here. more opportunity for indian youngsters to earn money playing professional cricket. Not everyone gets to play for India. IF BCCI concentrates more on domestic cricket with the revenue earned, it will definitely encourage more youngsters to take up cricket.
sachin34357 Posted January 28, 2014 Posted January 28, 2014 If BCCI makes a First Class (4 day) and a one day competition on the lines of IPL, Do you think it'll succeed. 4 overseas players in the lineup
Zap_Brannigan Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 more opportunity for indian youngsters to earn money playing professional cricket. Not everyone gets to play for India. IF BCCI concentrates more on domestic cricket with the revenue earned' date=' it will definitely encourage more youngsters to take up cricket.[/quote'] 30 years ago our international players were poor. 20 years ago, most of our international players couldn't make ends meet without having a day job in addition to playing for India. 10 years ago, our ranji players needed second jobs. Now our ranji players make around the same as engineers and doctors in our country and cricket is beginning to be seen as a career. As it is, India has very little career opportunities for people who fail at reaching the highest level after playing for many years. This discourages a lot of people to give up early or not take up cricket at all. I would rather that the money generated by the Indian team (due to their demand), pour inside the remote corners of India than see it going to counties like BD or Pak that has no value in the long run.
BlackMamba Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Dileep Let us begin with a simple statement. You cannot compare Cricket to any other Sport. None. And this in a multitude of ways. Least of all it should be compared to Soccer. 1) Without Manchester United's participation - European League would still be a hit, albeit it will lose it's charm. 2) Without Brazil's participation World Cup would still be a hit. It is far more competitive. You simply seem to ignoring the fact that The Percentages are not heavily weighed in favor of one country/any country like it does with India in cricket. Actually, I will tell you what? Bring in another sport where the Percentages in favor of a nation or club are half of what India does in Cricket. Yes 50%. You will not find one. To emphasize what I am saying let us visit the India - NZ ODIs. I was stunned to see Rupa Ganjee and Underwear 4 X 2 Billboards along the boundary. Pray, tell me why on the Mother Mary Earth does Rupa advertise in NZ ? The only Rupa underwears found in NZ are the ones which the Indians wore while boarding a flight and are probably lying in their closets with holes all across it. I am sure if we did a cost analysis, the amount of money Rupa spent on setting up the Billboards in NZ -- will be not recovered by the sale of these Ganjees and Underwears in NZ. Then WHY?? Cutting the story short --> Such is effect of Commercialism, Advertising, Media which India exploits to the hilt, riding the BCCI (Or Cricket In India) wave. And BCCI is asking for a 25% (20% from 80% contributions) cut of it. Unfair -- I am not sure if anybody will agree with you on that. Currently 3 Boards WI, SLC and Zimbabwe probably solely rely on India. I am sure PCB and NZC is not far off. Such disparity is not seen in any other sport. None!
BlackMamba Posted January 29, 2014 Posted January 29, 2014 Big Evil 3 are 1 Vote Away Bengalis have nodded. Srini and his gang is 1 vote away. The biggest fallout of all of this will be CSA. They are doomed. Haroon Lorgat -- what have you done ? Question is who will jump ship 1st. SL or PAK ? Seriously what is SL Thinking? I mean a day cannot pass by in SL without its cricketers thinking about BCCI, and you are opposing? I am not sure. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci-icc/content/story/713925.html
