I would give him a bit more. But Dhawan, Nohit, Rayudu need to go. They just do not cut it. Also, Pujara should be brought into the ODIs.

He may be more suited for Tests where not much pressure of S/R and can play slow and steady and cautious cricket. In ODIs S/R pressure will be there.
SLICKR392 Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 He is a good Test and T20 player but hasn't got the balance in ODIs. Pujara's List A suggests he is a gun player in 50 overs as well. Surely deserves a heads up.
JourneyMan Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Don't know if Rahane can be called a test specialist yet. Pujara is miles ahead. I also think he would adapt well to the 50-over format. Only question is where do you put him? 4 is a bit low, 3 is Kohli's forte, opener would only work if the other end has a fast run-scorer.

veer Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Except Kohli's, I could not find anyones stroke peircing inner circle.. we need those stroke makers. RoSharma relied heavily on aerial routes.. Missing those SRT's and Ganguly's shots.. which pierce close in fielders in first 10-15 overs.. Pujara can do that..

Silva Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 Pujara has a better List A record and scored Centuries at a much better rate per innings, plus he's been better in the India A matches he's played. I think Pujara will eventually be in the ODI Squad, but I can understand the selectors testing out other options considering his problems with Injuries.
Rebel Agent Posted January 31, 2014 Posted January 31, 2014 I seriously do not think Pujara should play in the ODI's the guy is a gun Test player, and India should not ruin him, he has bad knees and the extra pressure of ODI's could really shorten his career.

Talwar Raja Posted February 2, 2014 Posted February 2, 2014 I'm against both of them getting picked for Odis, but if I am forced to take a decision, I would pick pujara for sure. I still maintain rahane doesn't have the guts , mental toughness or the power to play the faster format of the game.
