Trichromatic
There are hardly 3 100s by Miandad when Pakistan were bowled out below 400. Link to comment
thongale
http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63502.html On these pitches where Imran and Hadlee got 2 wickets in 70 odd overs. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63501.html This looks like a flat pitch yeah. Imran and Hadllee had to bowl 100 overs in first 2 innings. How many fast bowlers have to bowl those many overs these days? Spinners do bowl that much. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63358.html Ha, you didn't know that Saleef Jaffar was a left arm paceman? Dind't you? Lillee bowled 50 overs. Can't recall the last time when I watched a genuine fast bowler bowing those many overs in an inning. http://www.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/match/63264.html Scores of 600 and 400. Lillee didn't get any in 21 overs. Sarfaraz bowled 49 overs.Lilliee was supposed to be injured. But I think he was **** scared of flat tracks. Sarfraz was not fast. HE was Vaas esque bowler who bowled line and length all day. Not abnormal to bowl 49 overs. What do you trying to prove here? If you consider someone like Shewag's bigscores, they would have come on even flatter tracks, especially when the opposition has fast bowler dominated attack. Link to comment
thongale
Still nothing proves Shewag faced better fast bowlers than Miandad. Compared what Shewag faced to this. Roberts, Holding, Marshall, Croft, Garner, Patterson, Walsh, Ambrose, Bishop, Hadlee, Lillee and Thomson. I counted out Botham and Kapil since they are not fast, but fast medium. Link to comment

Nothing to prove. Just to show even Miandad scored centuries on flat tracks. Mcgrath, Lee, Shoaib, Bond, Steyn, Pollock, Murali, Warne. He did score few 100s where other batsmen could hardly add 100-200 runs. Both of them scored mostly on flat tracks. You may find more 100s for Sehwag with lower team scores. I guess those pitches were flatter if whole team easily scored 400 all the time against pacers in 80s? Link to comment
goose
just another batsman whose stats provoke incredulity not his batting. his numbers are phenomenal. is he a phenomenon? no. Link to comment
express bowling
The biggest tests for judging the quality of a player are 1) How has he played in conditions unfamiliar to him ? 2) How has he done in difficult situations in a match ? How does Sanga fare on these two counts ? How many runs in tests outside the subcontinent, how many centuries ? Has he scored runs against top bowlers of his era, in their own countries ? Like Gavaskar, Sachin, Dravid, Laxman, Kohli and Rahane have ? Link to comment
thongale
Both with flying colors. Better, he has played some single handed innings leading to a win in these conditions as well. Link to comment
express bowling
Both with flying colors. How many centuries out of his 37 ? Link to comment
thongale
How many matches he palyed away from home needs to be added to them. That's why you talk about averages. Some one has to do a rest of the players average vs subject player's average for a proper comparison to see who scored under tougher conditions. Link to comment

express bowling
Averages become important when the total number is somewhat comparable. When someone has not scored much overseas .... averages sort of lose their value. Link to comment

Marut
if laxman would have been in SL he could have similar stats as Mahela/Sanga in ODIs What about tests? Sanga has around 4000 runs in around 35 matches at 75 average at Colombo alone. If you play a third of all your matches on two or three grounds, you become a super batsman on these grounds. Sonix768
"Outside Subcontinent" is a poor filter. Many pitches outside subcontinent resembles subcontinent pitches. So you have to look into each match and pitch condition into account. Like the Hobart pitch where Sangakkara scored 192. It's not a typical Australian pitch and resembles a subcontinent pitch a lot (favors batsman and spinners). http://www.espncricinfo.com/ausvsl/content/story/320283.html So his 192, though a very good innings under pressure, is not as great-innings-outside-his-comfort-zone as many would think.
