Does he play as an all rounder? He's our 4th specialist bowler, got us back into the game after we had lost 2 wickets in 7 balls and the Kiwis could havf run through the lower order with that new ball. I agree with you. That was the turning point. India were cruising along, the NZ bowlers were down, there were still 20 overs till the new ball was due. He should not have throw it away. This is one problem Kohli needs to correct if he wants to be a great test match player. He gets impatient at times, especially after a break.

He is not a proper batsman despite all these cameos. Let me put this way. He does not have the temperament of a batsman.

My issue with Jadeja is this is not the first time....I mean you make the mistake twice due to technical flaws you can get benefit of the doubt but he has had 2 back to back brainfarts at real crucial junctures of test match which is worrisome. ANyways hopefully he works on it

^Just see how a brainfart changed the dimension of the game.....Jadeja is a good bowler as he is proving so far and I am not advising he needs to be dropped but seriously these brainfarts are very critical

Don't think he can survive by defending. This will work for him better than surviving. He doesn't have the technique to survive for long periods by defending. he will throw the bat around when there is attacking field. He may or may not connect a few. He is not like say Irfan pathan who has sound defensive technique. I still remember at the age of 19 Irfan played Mcgrath brilliantly scoring 55 and stayed there for more than 4 hours.

His defence was not so bad.

His 3 300s were not played like this FYI. He is also a good defensive player. Who knows what transpired in the middle and what Dhoni told him to do?

In test cricket u have to trust and believe in ur ability.Both dhoni and jadeja do not trust their defensive technique so they try to move around the crease ,charge at bowlers ,those are high risk options .Dhoni tries to defend by charging at bowlers .Its just shows their basic game is not correct. They are unsure that they can stay at the crease.Jadeja can be better than dhoni but he needs to work on his technique and footwork.
