But it may not have the power to dismiss the CSK franchise as it remains a private entity. The power to dismiss CSK will probably lay with the IPL governing council. The supreme court has power to do anything in this country.

Does it terminate the CSK franchise? Does it send Gurunath to jail? Does it force Srini to sell the CSK franchise? or even before that, will there be a criminal trial? Is it possible to have a criminal trial. A criminal trial is possible as betting is illegal in India. So basically the supreme court is urged to take action. I think the court will come down hard on mayappan. But it may not have the power to dismiss the CSK franchise as it remains a private entity. The power to dismiss CSK will probably lay with the IPL governing council. The report makes recommendations like always. The SC studies the report and will then make their own judgments. The SC can force BCCI to take steps to make CSK obsolete. Now, let us not be witch hunters here. Sure, CSK is one of the entities but they are not the only one. The focus should be to weed out corruption for better of the game and not settle individual scores with CSK, RR or MI.

Even in UK team owners, management aren't allowed to bet on their own teams. :cantstop: Personally, I see nothing wrong in it.

If the Supreme Court decides to ban Srini or anything else,then no one in this country can overrule that.According to the constitution the SC ahs very wide ranging powers and its interpretation on anything is final and binding.

The IPL probe committee, led by Justice Mukul Mudgal, concluded that Gurunath Meiyappan, the son-in-law of BCCI President N Srinivasan, was a Chennai Super Kings team official. The report said that Gurunath was in violation of several sections of IPL Operational Rules for bringing the game into disrepute, IPL Anti-Corruption Code for his acts of betting, and of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials for bringing disrepute to the game of cricket. IPL Operations Rules (for bringing the game into disrepute) Section 2.2.1: Each franchisee shall procure that its team shall in good faith compete to the best of its ability in the League in general and in each match in which its team participates. Section 2.14: Each person subject to these operational rules shall not, whether during a match or otherwise, act or omit to act in any way which would or might reasonably be anticipated to have an adverse affect on the image and/or reputation of such person, any team, any player, any team official, the BCCI, the League and/or the game or which would otherwise bring any of the foregoing into disrepute. The SIT or the JIT will take over all pending cases and investigate all available information in the various tapes and submit its report to the Supreme Court within a stipulated time frame so as to obtain appropriate orders for prosecution and trial, the report of a three-member committee headed by former Punjab and Haryana Chief Justice Mukul Mudgal said.

Of course the SC has powers and its interpretations are final; but it can't arbitrarily decide what to do. There are limits to powers to SC when it comes to private firms.

For the highlighted, Ugra was one of the people called for discussion with the probe committee. Also, those are the words in the report and hence there is no author on Cricinfo.

Would rather have the status quo than this guy becoming the Indian bowling coach... If he becomes the bowling coach, all the fast bowlers will commit mass suicides.., c'mon dude we did well under him in 2007-08.just because he was a trundler doesnt mean bad coach atleast he played internationals,current guy is nobody:cantstop:
