kubrickian Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Nah practically speaking win 1 match (gud ol' pujara buckles down) and we are in the semis - a kohli special takes us to the final and dhawan finishes it off at the MCG. :nice: In World Cup in Australia, we need batsmen who can score off short deliveries which reach shoulder or head level. Only Kohli, Dhoni and Rohit to a certain extent can do that in this side. With the big boundaries in Australia, if you dont time the pull or hook well, you will get out easily. Pretty much all other batsmen like Rahane, Rayudu, Pujara, Dhawan, Raina can only leave the short deliveries and cant play the hook/pull well when there is pace and bounce. We need a lot of practice in those conditions if our batsmen have to adapt to playing well in those conditions or look to prepare those conditions at home (which we cant seem to do). Our bowlers are not good enough so our batsmen have to make up for them and score big. This is the reason we lost NZ ODIs. They couldnt score as much as they would generally because of extra pace and bounce in NZ.

Good even bounce and back dhawan to pull it off in a pressure situation (the other side will feel it as well) - needs to be a bit selective though but he will sort it out in these 12 months m reasonably sure of that. M not worried about pujara he will do just fine - the pulling and hooking can be left to the above fellows yes. He will - and we need someone to - anchor down. There will be a bit of swing with the new ball but agree that pitches will be good for batting as they were in NZ ODIs but the issue is the extra pace and bounce. As I said, Rahane, Rayudu, Dhawan will have problems hooking and pulling the short ball which reaches the shoulder/head level. Bowlers will target this when they bowl to Indian batsmen.

When world has the likes of maxwell, Faulkner, Anderson, miller, Mathew walking out at 6-7 we have rahane, rayadu . In SC we will be hammered between 35-50 overs while we will consolidate. agreed. :hatsoff:
kubrickian Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Yeah with Rahane and Rayudu if they are picked for the 11 - in the middle overs they will be bounced and could be troubled more (even ones and twos could be stifled and this happens to be my biggest worry) - am not sure I would have them in my lineup though. I am still hoping on gambhir for the middle order to completely take out the opposition spinners at No.5. Gambhir struggles even more against the short ball. Generally, Indian batsmen will find it tough to play the steep bounce as they are not used to it. Dhoni has to bat up the order at 5, Rayudu could be given a few more chances to learn and adapt as he has played only a few ODIs. Pujara at 4. Jadeja and Ashwin are decent hitters at the end. Or Binny could be played instead of Ashwin in conditions which don't assist spin.

Trundler27 Posted February 11, 2014 Posted February 11, 2014 Hopefully this is the start of the 'long rope' for someone who truly deserves it in the ODI format and that is pujara.... he needs a few games to settle down in this format and work on his game at the highest level.... he should be a perfect fit for our middle-order... hopefully rat and pujara create solid chemistry in our middle-order for years to come. Lambu is gone!!! so all our opponents have automatically lost a bit of confidence even before playing a single game against us :yay: Good to see a few relevant changes after continued embarrassments

Australia got thrashed 4-0 on these "slow and low bounce roads" in India. What does it make them ? :cantstop: Watson, Warner, Steve Smith and other Aussies will be exposed as the flat track bullies they are in South Africa. Cant wait to see them get humiliated. :cantstop:

Must be damaging to the guy's confidence :( Ishant the *****er is gone Good batting and spin department. Mishra will be handy for t20s but will he get a game? maybe not but should be preferred over fatwin who will pause his way to sixerssss My 11: Dhawan, rahane, kohli, yuvraj, rohit, dhoni, jadeja, mishra, bhuvi, aaron, shami Bhuvi can hit a few so bat reasonably deep.

However i would like to see even more new faces tried, its a faster way to get talent on the int stage. Remember world t20 with that crap committee? Chawla, GG, Sehwag, Balaji, Dinda, Rohit All out of form or past their expiry date for that time or not good enough

Shami has played 2 T20s for KKR.
