Prakat Posted February 22, 2014 Posted February 22, 2014 Apaddharma: Right and wrong aren't facts, they are acts.
Muloghonto Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Master ranter strikes again. Just because you choose to define hindutva with certain undertones' date=' doesn't make it so. Go cry me a river. While at it, read what apaddharma means.[/quote'] Hinduvta practitioners behave in ways consistent with fascists. Boldfaced lies, revisionism of facts and copying islamic values. To deny that is to deny the essence of hinduvta Sent from my GT-S5830D using Tapatalk 2
surajmal Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Guy, who idolizes Nazi party's inspiration, is calling others fascist. How do you say irony in bengali?

Muloghonto Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 Guy' date=' who idolizes Nazi party's inspiration, is calling others fascist. How do you say irony in bengali?[/quote'] Twisted inspiration. Its sort of like saying those who idolize characters in the Mahabharata are idolizing a ****. You are the master of pigeonholing people because of typical hinduvta label-throwing. What I said about hinduvtas is true. They are as much hindus as jaish-e-muhammad r hindus. Ie, extremist posers who lack basic hindu education. Sent from my GT-S5830D using Tapatalk 2
coffee_rules Posted February 25, 2014 Posted February 25, 2014 And why did it "chicken out"? They only know why. The UPA government would have supported them if they had gone ahead with the distribution.
seedhi Posted February 26, 2014 Posted February 26, 2014 This Varadarajan guy who has been on a crusade on this issue is himself a humongous hypocrite: Dealing with bullies: the Siddharth Varadarajan way Siddharth Varadarajan, former editor of the Hindu on 15 February tweeted thus: Siddharth Varadarajan is outraged because Penguin Books does not play an activist role in opposing Section 153 of the Indian Penal Code. He has now demanded that his book, ‘Gujarat, the Making of a Tragedy’ be pulped and the copyright be reverted to him so he can deal with bullies on his own terms. However, the copyright information in the book says that the copyright for individual articles vests with the individual contributors and Siddharth Varadarajan himself has the copyright to the Introduction. So the demand that he be given the copyright is a strange request. One also finds the following on page 203 of his book. So let us get this straight. Siddharth Varadarajan wants Penguin Books to give him the copyright of a work to which he and his friends already own the copyright so that he can aggressively publish the demand to enforce Section 153 of the Indian Penal Code and thus deal with the mean bullies who lodge complaints based on Section 153 of the penal code? Got it? We then move on to page 294 of the book which contains a piece authored by Siddharth Varadarajan and Rajdeep Sardesai among others. Here is an excerpt. So Siddharth Varadarajan wants to ban Bollywood movies? Why not? The Taliban would approve of the ban. After all, in May 2001, he filed a report for the Times of India defending the Taliban. Entitled “MEA goofs on Taliban ‘decree’ against Hindus,†the report claimed that He claimed that he had spent two weeks in Afghanistan and was therefore some sort of authority on the real nature of the Taliban and “found no substance in the allegation.†All this was propaganda started by “Masood Khalili, the anti-Taliban Afghan ambassador in New Delhi.†He would have gotten away with this piece of pro-Taliban propaganda but it came undone within a day when the Taliban put out a statement justifying their actions. A humiliated Times of India then carried a piece retracting their false claims. A few suggestions for Siddharth Varadarajan: While on the topic of getting the copyright of your previous works so you can use them on your own terms against mean bullies, can you please get the copyright to your editorial in the Hindu dated 22 June 2011 and use that as well? That way everyone will know that you are the brave hero who will rid India of restrictive laws like Section 153. Specifically, this is the part you need to use: Meanwhile, you should also let the world know how the faculty members at the University of Chicago have set a fine example when it comes to free-speech rights. The Foundation for Individual Rights in Education (FIRE) has pointed out that the university has a different set of free-speech laws when it comes to students and polices their posts on the social networking site Facebook. Here is a letter written by FIRE to the university’s president highlighting this fact. So you are on the same page as the faculty members of the University of Chicago who believe that free-speech rights are best served when others are silenced into submission so that they can listen to you when you exercise your free-speech rights! A final suggestion. When you deal with the mean bullies on your own terms by publishing your works, here is a title you can use: How we banned ourselves, wailed about it, and fought against mean Hindus so that we don’t ban ourselves in future. http://www.indiafacts.co.in/dealing-with-bullies-the-siddharth-varadarajan-way/#sthash.ciUfxOfM.5QgkfT4Q.dpbs
diga Posted February 27, 2014 Author Posted February 27, 2014 compare this with the reaction on the film "innocence of muslims"
diga Posted February 28, 2014 Author Posted February 28, 2014 On Feb. 19, the 9th Circuit directed Google to take down all copies of Innocence of Muslims from its platforms. What's more, the appellate circuit issued an extraordinary gag order that required the parties not to talk about it. Almost non-existent reaction from Indian media on this ..and compare it with the reactions on Wendy's book
Prakat Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 The grand old tradition of hindus in India behaving like the state is their father and muslims are their brothers against whom they are fighting for their father's equal affections.
Muloghonto Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 The grand old tradition of hindus in India behaving like the state is their father and muslims are their brothers against whom they are fighting for their father's equal affections. Its more like hindus in general trend to be more spiritual and ritualistic and less religiously dogmatic than muslims. Sort of a less liberal version of Europeans. Liberal muslims on the other hand, is an oxymoron. The most liberal they get, is putting favorable spin on the Koran. Taking more liberal interpretations of it. But not like hindus or Christians who can be hindus and still disagree with parts of their religious texts. Sent from my GT-S5830D using Tapatalk 2
Prakat Posted February 28, 2014 Posted February 28, 2014 The generalizing is strong in your post mg. But I agree with your outlook to a degree. I'm sick of people who think muslims should serve as a benchmark for hindus and constantly use their mainstream narrative to show us in a better light. From women's rights to religious tolerance to social liberaism. Why not compare our record against a more liberal society? And aim to work towards that instead of constantly comparing oursevles to people we can happily claim to be better than.

Muloghonto Posted March 1, 2014 Posted March 1, 2014 Haven't travelled/read much' date=' have you or are you just in mood to generalize today ? Turkey since Ataturk (for ****s sake, wearing hijab in public institutions was/is BANNED), Pre-revolution Iran yada yada[/quote'] I spend a lot of time in Vancouver, its got a huge Iranian population. From what i've seen, they r of three types. Iranians who consider them non muslims and r liberal, Iranians who think they r 'being bad muslims' and have a guilty conscience and Iranians who r standard conservative muslims. They r by far the most liberal ppl from a predominantly Muslim nation, along with turks but there is a subtle difference from non muslims: they r not liberal muslims, like liberal Christians or hindus who r liberal Coz they reject part of their religion.
