I don't think Pujara's fielding can improve to the level of Dhawan/Rahane - he isn't a great athlete. The more "easier" way is to make him bowl few overs. I am not justifying Dhoni/Fletcher logic btw before people go full retard on me. Off topic - Rahane is like Ricky Ponting!

He can't be as good as Rahane but surely can be as good as Dhawan imo. plus hes a very good catcher,something we've struggled with recently.Can place him in slips where he doesnt have to run much. The guy hasn't bowled even in List A and bowled just 153 deliveries in 93 FC matches.not sure whether he can improve his bowling to be decent part timer either.I'm more confident about improvement in his fielding tbh

Arey, it's a gimmick writeup and nothing else. The sports media in the country knows that any Dhoni-Srini type news (associated with conspiracy theories) would be lapped up by the readers. The whole Pujara story provides them good fodder, and somehow Pujara is adding fuel to fire. Expect to hear several similar stories if India again fails at the T20 WC.

It is.but we already have many who are very good at that.What we lack is guys who can catch well .Pujara can only add to that.Anyway hes not that bad.just hes not very good like Rahane,Jaddu etc.more in decent category.

It's not like he's completely untested. He must get a chance in ODIs and please ODIs and T20 especially IPL where you can feed off of unknown Indian bowlers are two different ball games. Also considering the world cup is going to be in NZ and Aus where lesser Indian batsmen are definitely going to fail we should back someone like Pujara.
