Take a deep breath, they're just jokes
“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to death my right to get offended. How dare you? Baahar mil.” – Desi Voltaire Dear everyone, Let’s just all take a deep breath. They’re just jokes. Unfunny, crass or whatever you want to call them, they’re still just jokes. The AIB Knockout video has been taken down. While we’d love to claim that it’s because so many people watched it that it broke YouTube, the truth’s a little sadder. First things first; no one person or force forced us to take this video down. This is not something that’s happened because of a 3 am phonecall or a morcha at our front door or a gunman on a grassy knoll. Under the circumstances, this is us being pragmatic. Allow us to explain.

There is social etiquette that takes care of it. He can be ridiculed so much he won't do it again on live TV. This was on YT' date=' where AAM people don't know how to get it it. We don't need government to dictate. Very soon it will be come what Taliban would do, kill people for having fun privately. Think of a social gathering in some party where consenting adults go at each other. We don't want to ban them to have their fun if they want? This is not even a case of freedom of expression, basic freedom to do what they feel like.[/quote'] AAM people cant watch on YT? Now every tom , dick and harry has smart phone with data access. It is not the point, point is witty insults are OK but I dont endorse swear and abuses. Now coming to whether govt wants to dictate or not, I support it and you oppose it.. Whom to do they follow? Just because a small intelligentsia of the country are against govt dictating doesnt mean govt should follow them . Govt has to go by Indian constitution and whether majority people endorse them!

Abusing is not in right' date=' you may be doing it with your friends but that wont become right.[b'] Imagine if this becomes common in society and everybody abuses each other in public..Imagine our politicians going maa behen on each other in TV shows.. Do you think it is good? We want a society which is based on mutual respect, and our language should always refelct that.

She really pushes the limits. Those who are complaining about how vulgar this AIB roast was should watch her brand of humor.
Different culture....Do you think it will work in India...for eg; she makes dick jokes about black people all the time....imagine if she was roasting say someone like Sharukh Khan and say something like he has a small penis or something. or if she calls Aishwarya Rai a **** or makes Vag jokes about Priyanka Chopra? Different sensibilities for different culture.

There's a thin line between not believing in absolute freedom of speech and not believing in freedom of speech at all.
I am not against the show per se, or witty insults hurled against each other..But I am against against using maa behen, below the belt swears.

I personally prefer Indian jokes in a kavi samallan type environment but I have been away from India for so long that I dont connect with this India. Gaalis are prefectly fine as long as they are used as part of a joke, in some Indian movies and now this roast they get carried away. The idea is not to abuse as saying 5 gaalis is not funny unless you are drunk with your friends and 18 years old, its funny when a joke uses an odd gali to make people laugh.

Yes, Politicians have used publicly sweared in the past, but rightly public have severely criticized it.

A day after her crude outburst, artists, writers and academics — a group she had actively courted till not so long ago — were united in saying that she had embarrassed them and the state of Bengal.

Definitely. That is pure class. Sadly the number of people doing that sort of thing and the number of people who enjoy it are both going down fast.

May be they will learn that maa behan gallis are not that funny and they need to get some real material ,make some real effort to make people laugh.

IMO Nastyness disguised as humor is not much fun...just leaves a bad taste.....

I do expect that they will get better material IF they are allowed to continue with roasts.

I found it mostly unfunny and distinctively wannabe. It was also not original at all. But some politicians in India seriously need to get their priorities right. It was just a freaking comedy show.

Totally Agree. The best ones like Surendra Sharma is comedy gold. I don't know why they prefer guys dressed as girls type of kapil Sharma humor, when there is a vault like the ones below: 2htGwLezHNg
