This would make our NRR at +0.75. This is still far less than group leaders WI @ + 1.75 big difference between 0.75 and 0.36 considering that only 2 teams can qualify. the higher the better so thats an illogical argument.

In every sport in all group stages everyone knows that goal difference, net run rate etc is always important as it is often used to split teams if they are level. Everybody apart from a grinning gormless captain and his brain-dead coaching clique.

He also said that while this is the best chance for them to reach semis after 2007 T20 WC they're not looking too far ahead and are keeping things simple.

We have to win 1 game against Bangladesh as we already did all the hardwork beating the stronger teams already and we are virtually true.

Makes a little more sense now but pak always find a way to sneak in and WI have a big NRR so we looked a little out of the picture despite 2 wins. We have a tough group and where we manage to win 2 matches, our NRR could have dragged us down.. we need WI to beat AUS and then for us to beat bangla im sure

If Aus beat WI NRR could come back to haunt us if we win against Bangladesh and lose to Aus.
Switchblade Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 I am worried about the game agaisnt Australia as they have hammered us in the last 2 T20 editions Warner/Watson combo has hurt us badly this time there is Finch infact they have a brilliant batting line up and they face us so often I don't think they'll have any problems with our bowling.Only thing where we can make them pay is their bowling which is on the weaker side.

We won the first stage easily, we won 2 out of 3 games in the group stage. However, in our wins, we won against SA by 1 run. In the Pakistan game, chasing 128, we waited till 17 overs to win. In the one loss, we were thrashed by Aussies. In 5 games that world cup, we lost only 1. As a result, because of just one loss we didn't qualify for semis because we didn't keep NRR in mind Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it

How is that defensive?
PBN Posted March 28, 2014 Posted March 28, 2014 now that west indies have beaten australia, India only need to win one of the last two games to qualify to the semis. NRR might only come in effect to decide for the 1st or 2nd position only.

But if Bangla beat Pak, then it can still be a two way tie between any 3 teams. Aus or Ban ( depends on who wins between them), WI, Pak can all end up in 2 wins each

Aus or Ban ( depends on who wins between them), WI, Pak can all end up in 2 wins each West Indies has to win against pak Pak has to win against windies and Bangladesh If they lose to Bangladesh they have to beat windies by huge margin which is impossible almost at this level
