Has Dhoni ever lost a knockout game as captain?

Not we' date=' just you..when you try to convince your kids that SRT won the cup :winky:[/quote'] I never said that he alone won the cup but I've seen it said in many places by Dhoni fans that MSD won the cup for us - thats just wrong. nobody's undermining players. I simply stated facts - M$D played just one noteworthy inning in WC and Champs Trophy combined - if his fanboys don't like this fact then I can't do anything about that.

The problem with you and few other bhakts is that you do not like it if MSD is praised. Look at the title and look how you derailed it conveniently. 57% of Indians defecate in the open, the remaining 43% come to defecate in threads where MSD is praised.:giggle:

I will not take credit away from Dhoni for playing a good innings in the final but will say right now I would have considered him a legend had he helped us save even one of those overseas test matches. People first blame the oldies, than the young inexperienced players.Forget captaincy or keeping for a sec,his brainless hoicks in test matches against the 2nd new ball have triggered countless collapses....He has the wait and watch game for ODI's but doesn't use it in tests,he can slog around in tests but can't use that in T20 :WTF: He has looked like a deer in headlights with the bat many times and screwed us out of atleast draws.....infact we could have won the 1st test in NZL had he used more brains

Saar, see where this thread was and what you turned it to.. I am not taking any road.In fact,I cannot compete intellectually with you guys at all.

Help me understand this-Dhoni has had some humiliating losses and some epic wins....which says that he is a victim or at times a victor of circumstance no? So how does that make him awesome or a great leader in K.O games? Please explain Sir....You definetely see something legendary in Dhoni that a lot of us fail to see

I've said this many times - he played very well in the WC Final. BUT IMO it was not the best inning of the match and he most certainly did not win the WC alone.

Did well in the one that mattered.. at which one of the batsman got 2 shots at and ended up with 4 and 13 :hehe:
I know you put that 2 to just add numbers to certain batsmen's numbers but I would just like to see any batsmen, let alone Dhoni, Chase 360 in a world cup final successful. And lol at parroting the term,"one that mattered". Yes because semis and quarters didn't matter, even if we lost them we would have directly entered the finals. You must be the kind of guy who watches a relay race and gives the medal only to the guy who crosses the line as he was the one that mattered

You do realize Dhoni's contribution goes beyond runs scored? Not for nothing was his captaincy praised by experts in every successful ICC tourney. Do you think we would've won the 3 trophies if he wasn't there?

Msd as captain is miles ahead of SRT. As test batsman there is no comparison In ODIs, SRT gave India starts and got them close but was very rarely there till the end. He has an epic record that will stay for a very long time. Msd on the other hand has been a great leader in ODIs but he is horrible in tests. He is a great finisher and wins a lot of games. Overall tbh I would rather have him in the ODI and get him to lead as opposed to SRT. For tests, he wouldn't even make the final XI

0-10 is the only record that matters and Dhoni will continue to get ridiculed for it. There is no way he will remembered as a Great Captain with that sort of record in Test Matches. Thoroughly deserving.

The posts in the thread proves the fact that Sachin was indeed the Cricketer of the generation. I mean he retired half an year ago, but still his name comes up in almost every thread and is still compared with every player!

LMAO, since when is it the opener's job to stay till the end? If an opener stays till the end he will have to score over 150+ each time. Is that even possible?

I personally rate Dhoni higher than sachin as an ODI player for India. We have to keep in mind that he is an allrounder while Sachin was not. The real question should be, who is the second best limited overs keeper for India through time. Nayan Mongia, Kiran More, Kirmani Engineer DK? Who is the second best batsman for India in the ODIs or even opener. Ganguly Virat (might become greatest)?? There is a big difference between, the remaining keepers of India and MSD. In all formats. I suspect Saha will be a better bet overseas but its a non contest in limited overs at the moment. As far as big tournaments go, Yuvraj >>> Sachin >>>> Dhoni. Sachin has a uniform contribution in WC's and champions trophies. But Yuvi has ensured that India has won. MSD has just one defining innings to his name. Even Virat Kohli leaving aside this T20 WC (in which may he continue to pound attacks) has had a so so record in big tournaments.

Hmm, I don't know. That's true to some extent in 2011 as Yuvi took critical wickets in the final, but he did get bowled out for a golden duck in the semi-final. Without Sachin and Raina's contributions India would not have gotten to the final. In 2007 Yuvi played an absolutely critical role in turning India's tournament around with those six sixes and then that awesome 30-ball 70 against Australia in the semi-final. But then he failed in the final. In fact one could argue that in some ways, Yuvi has been similar to Sachin in world tournaments: playing key roles in getting India to the final stages but then fizzling out a little. Not choking because he took key wickets in 2011. As for Dhoni he has been an almost complete washout in world tournaments but that 91* will always make up for all the other failures. End of the day to play a starring role in a World Cup final is the dream of every cricketer. Kohli did top score in the CT final but at this point, he needs to do a lot more to enter the conversation.
