Crookbond Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Not the first time and not the ONLY team either. WI too play football as warm up! I wonder what's the logic behind this.
G_B_ Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 dare i suggest that teams like India and WI are lazy and dont like gym work? so to cure the boredom and stay fit they play football which burns off the calories? Personally i prefer to jog or swim to stay fit than going to the gym. I notice teams like Pak India WI etc prefer football while England and Aus prefer the gym. SA i guess play touch rugby which is still safer than football barefoot.
kaptaan Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/sports/cricket/series-tournament/t20-world-cup-2014/top-stories/Yuvraj-Singh-fit-for-World-T20-semifinal-against-South-Africa/articleshow/33181282.cms so the jinx thread worked austin saab :two_thumbs_up:

BlueBee Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 See, playing football helps to have good reflexes and helps you to ease out after hard work..IMO that was the reason behind it....We too played football before match in U-16 State game
Haarkarjeetgaye Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 when in Doubt go with experience. Always. Experience can pull you out of difficult situations. No way is Yuvi being injured a blessing in disguise. I would still play him if half unfit. We can get Rahane as sub fielder
vvvslaxman Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Despite all his little achievements, not for one moment i will consider him a good bet in T20. He can protect his wicket if needed. DOn't expect him to keep produce gigantic overs which Yuvi is capable of .
gakgupta Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Despite all his little achievements' date=' not for one moment i will consider him a good bet in T20. He can protect his wicket if needed. DOn't expect him to keep produce gigantic overs which Yuvi is capable of .[/quote'] YUVI is a big match player.....he wouldn't chicken out like others......Infact, he plays better than his potential and thats what i am expecting in tomorow match.. I am sure...if u play Rahane...he will succumb to pressure and end up eating lot of bowls.....No offense....rahane is a good player but his attitude doesn't support big matches.... Tomorrow...i am counting on Kohli and YUVI
singhprakash72 Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Even nohit>rahane Rahane is technically a better batsman than Yuvi & Nohit, but I wouldn't waste him in ODI let alone T20....he and Pujara should be groomed for Tests. In case of Yuvi if he stay for 4-5 overs he can change the tide single handed except is consistency has suffered lately.
The Outsider Posted April 3, 2014 Posted April 3, 2014 Not the first time and not the ONLY team either. WI too play football as warm up! I wonder what's the logic behind this. Supposed to be good for control over foot movement, which is important for a batsman. Not sure if it fits in with a risk-reward benefit analysis in the middle of a tournament.
Laaloo Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Who was the last person that was playing football and got injured? Was it rohit sharma on the eve of a test match? I can't recall
game_changerr Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 barring one match against aud, yuvi struggling big time....will flop today
Pakistan Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 There is no problem in playing football but why play barefoot when you are a professional sports team. They should have asked their kit supplier Nike for cleats and this injury would have been avoided.
Crookbond Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 Supposed to be good for control over foot movement, which is important for a batsman. Not sure if it fits in with a risk-reward benefit analysis in the middle of a tournament. I remember Gavaskar suggesting badminton for better footwork!
BlueBee Posted April 4, 2014 Posted April 4, 2014 I remember Gavaskar suggesting badminton for better footwork! :agree: It improves footwork, football is just to gain better reflexes, stamina, relaxing :two_thumbs_up:
