As much as i criticize captaincy of Dhoni, he did nothing wrong. There was a sound . He went instantly. Prior went for appeals even when the ball was nowhere near bat or pad or any sound. Ironically he didnt appeal when there was an edge :hysterical:

Bhuvi should replace Binny I agree with having 5 bowlers but it can only work if we have balance. I think B Kumar is a better batsman than binny. More reliable. Mature. Understands his game. Can block and form partnerships. Then have your 3 other seamers. For next game, I would have Ishant, Shami and Pankaj. That's 3 hit the deck bowlers with some good pace, carry, bounce etc. Pankaj can get early wickets with bhuvi. So in total you have 4 seamers and if you play ashwin (who needs a go) instead of jadeja (who has done a decent holding job but has been tonked and no wickets), then you cover the batting without worry of having kumar at 8. So my team next test: MJ, Dhawan, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin, Dhoni, Bhuvi, Shami, Pankaj, Ishant Pretty sweet side considering bhuvi got 4 wkts on a flat pitch. Easy to rotate seamers and hunt in packs too. Plus bhuvi can always do a holding job if needed. That's the combo we should go with. No bits and pieces binny or unreliable jadeja.

bhuvi is a lot younger than binny as well and given his performance so far in this match should certainly be playing the rest of the tour. ashwin is a tougher question, if you want a more wicket-taking spinner then go ashwin but with jadeja keeping it tight it means there is always pressure at one end and that makes it easier to get wickets at the other end.

I'm with Chappell on this one. Dhoni shouldn't have appealed if he knew prior hadn't edged it. But I am ready to give the benefit of the doubt to Dhoni .

Lol what negative thinking ... India find themselves in a strong position against a feeble English side with a wimp captain. Ozzies and Clarke pounced on them first test in Australia and Cook's side capitulated and never recovered. Similarly Dhoni should go for the kill and set the tone for the remainder of the series.

it is not hampering. But projecting him as an all rounder and bringing an additional bowler treating him as a specialist bat would create unnecessary distraction. Gillespie could bat a bit like Bhuvan. So could Warne, Lee. They never treated them as all rounders. Ashwin is somewhat in between a specailist bat and a good tail end bat. So we shouldn't push him either.

Bhuvan has a long way to go as a bowler before he can focus on improving other skills.....good start but not a finished product yet...his batting should just be a bonus. Agree with vvs Ashwin though is already an allrounder 2 100s,1 90 at test level on a tough pitch and add to that a few 50s and some good knocks in odi have already bumped him in that category

We are playing with 4 bowlers only. Binny is not given chances for a 5th bowler.
