Chetan Narula @chetannarula Eliminator ( at Brabourne on May 28) and 2nd qualifier (at Wankhede on May 30) in Mumbai. 1st qualifier in Kolkata on May 27 All knock-out matches have reserve days. Surprisingly May 27th 1st Qualifier - Kolkata May 28th Eliminator - Barbourne May 30th 2nd Qualifier - Wankhede June 1st Final - Bangalore MEDIA RELEASE The IPL Governing Council met at the Cricket Centre, Mumbai, earlier today, and took the following decisions: 1.14th May game moved from Kolkata to Cuttack: The GC confirmed the shift of the 14th May home game of Kolkata Knight Riders against Mumbai Indians, from the Eden Gardens, Kolkata, to the Barabati Stadium, Cuttack. 2.Unavailability of Chennai venue for 2014 season of Pepsi IPL TNCA informed the GC that the M.A. Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai is not available for the ongoing season of the Pepsi IPL. GC decided to move the 2 home matches of CSK scheduled on 18th and 22nd May to Ranchi. CSK has been using Ranchi as its alternate home venue for this Pepsi IPL season, and will continue to do so, for the remainder for the season. GC appreciated the support of the Jharkhand State Cricket Association and Orissa Cricket Association, in agreeing to host the Pepsi IPL 2014 matches at such a short notice. 3.Schedule - Pepsi IPL 2014 Playoffs: Considering that twenty matches of the ongoing Pepsi IPL season were played overseas, the GC took a decision to try and take the Playoffs to as many different stadia as possible. Several venues had expressed their interest in hosting the Playoffs. After due discussion, the Pepsi IPL 2014 Playoff Schedule was confirmed as follows: 27 May 2014 – 8:00 pm Qualifier 1 : 1 v 2 at Eden Gardens, Kolkata Reserve Day – 4:00 pm on 28 May at the same venue 28 May 2014 – 8:00 pm Eliminator : 3 v 4 at Brabourne Stadium, Cricket Club of India, Mumbai Reserve Day – 8:00 pm on 29 May at the same venue 30 May 2014 – 8:00 pm Qualifier 2 : Q1 loser v Eliminator winner – Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai (No reserve day) 1 June 2014 – 8:00 pm Final : Q1 winner v Q2 winner – M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru Reserve Day – 8:00 pm on 2 June at the same venue Amongst other items discussed by the GC was the on-field incident involving Kieron Pollard and Mitchell Starc, which occurred during the game between Mumbai Indians and Royal Challengers Bangalore on 6 May 2014. The members expressed their dismay at the incident, and unanimously expressed the view that the game in question was not played in the right spirit. It was decided to address these concerns by reiterating to all the captains, coaches and team managements featuring in the Pepsi IPL 2014 that such incidents should not be repeated.

Although the BCCI press release did not specify the reason for shifting the final, a top official told PTI on condition of anonimity that the anti-Srinivasan attitude of some of the MCA office-bearers had played a part in the decision. The official said since MCA belongs to the anti N Srinivasan faction which still rules the roost, this decision was intended to get even with some top MCA officials who have openly expressed their displeasure at the Tamil Nadu strongman continuing at the helm. However, those who attended the GC meeting were aware about the reasons given. "The unofficial reason given is the atrocious quality of the Wankhede Stadium's Hospitality Box which is very cramped. The BCCI will be having a clutch of high-profile guests from across the globe including senior ministers in the UAE government. That's one reason why some of the decision makers felt that Wankhede will be inappropriate as a venue," the official said. The second reason given is "MCA having problems in dealing with Mumbai Police." "There are always shortage of VVIP Car Parking passes for the BCCI members. A lot of them have complained that they have to walk down a fair distance from the allotted car parking areas," the official said. When asked whether Wankhede lost due to Srinivasan and MCA being at loggerheads, another senior official said, "All I can say is that the final is shifted. You are free to interpret the development."
