amiret Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 BJP MP's absurd comments on tobacco, cigarettes and cancer : A huge controversy broke out on Tuesday over comments by a parliamentary panel head and BJP MP Dilip Gandhi that there was no Indian study to confirm tobacco use leads to cancer, leaving the government embarrassed and rival parties and the medical fraternity gunning for him. Indian Cancer Society dubbed the comment as most absurd. "I think that is the most absurd comment that could have been made. We are all aware that the amount of research that has been done on cancer in our country because India is one of the countries which has the largest incidence of cancer," said Ulka Bangui of the Society. Gandhi, head of parliamentary panel on subordinate legislation examining the provisions of Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, 2003, said all studies in regard to health hazards of tobacco consumption have come from abroad and one should consider the Indian aspect too. The panel had "strongly" urged the government to keep on hold its proposal to increase the size of pictorial warnings on tobacco packets from 40 per cent to 85 per cent. Why would the Panel recommend to NOT increase the size of pictorial warnings on Bidi Packets ?
Sachin=GOD Posted April 1, 2015 Posted April 1, 2015 Ashok Khemka transferred again. This time to Archeology and Museums Department. So much for fighting against corruption.
Texan Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Unfortunately it seems like honest officers like Khemka will continue to face roadblocks. Perhaps, either there is a perception that his moves might be obstructionist because of his rigid enforcement of rules or there are multiple lobbies at play here that have their way no matter which government is in power.
asterix Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Shame on BJP, NAMO & Haryana govt. Regarding the transfer of Mr. Khemka...
BeautifulGame Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Honest Officers will always face problems doesn't matter which party is in power BJP or Cong There are a few officers in TN i remember who always get transferred regularly whether DMk or ADMk in power.Becoz they won't adjust and move along with local politicians .

Raghav_12 Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Sohrabuddin case: Why CBI not moving higher courts against Amit Shah? Congress http://economictimes.indiatimes.com/news/politics-and-nation/sohrabuddin-case-why-cbi-not-moving-higher-courts-against-amit-shah-congress/articleshow/46749630.cms NEW DELHI: Congress today questioned CBI's decision not to approach higher courts against a Mumbai special court's decision to discharge BJP President Amit Shah in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case as the 90-day deadline for making an appeal against the order came to a close. "We are surprised why CBI did not file any appeal in these cases in the higher courts. We demand that CBI and other agencies looking into the case should make an appeal in higher courts against Shah who is considered to be the number two in the BJP after Narendra Modi. "There is a provision in our Constitution that if we are not happy with the order of one court, we can approach the higher court," party spokesperson Shakeel Ahmed told reporters at the AICC briefing. A report earlier said that CBI has decided not to appeal against the December 30 order of the court as it feels there is no new evidence to present. Ahmed recalled that one of the three judges hearing the case was transferred immediately after the Modi-led government came to power at the Cenre despite the Supreme Court's observation that a judge hearing the trial of the case should continue till that trial comes to an end. "We expected that CBI would approach the higher courts. CBI had prepared a 22,000-page report in this matter," he said. Junta ke ho ya na ho, this accussed murderer and kidnapper is really enjoying achche din.

People try to justify the Murder of Sohrabuddin by saying he was a terrorist/criminal and therefore he deserved to be murdered without a fair trial . People have the same attitude about other Fake encounters under UPA/Cong Govt's . But why was his WIFE murdered ? The Gujarat Govt itself admitted , through it's Senior counsel KTS Tulsi before the Supreme Court, that Kauser Bi was kept in illegal custody and murdered by Gujarat ATS officers 2 days after her Husband and her body burnt to destroy evidence . There were no criminal cases against her . What was her crime ? The silence in the MSM is deafening. There were many other statements made by Ex-ATS officers about her torture in custody which i will not detail.

Sachin=GOD Posted April 2, 2015 Posted April 2, 2015 Agree. Seems like your typical quid-pro-quo deal. The Vadra case also seems like a quid pro quo deal. BJP has the central govt, Haryana govt and Rajasthan govt but I don't think any action has been taken till now. Meanwhile Khemka got his 46th transfer in 24 years. A really honest and gutsy officer sent to the museums department!!!
