I like the new bowlers too they are different from older SL bowlers they have steady pace along with usual accuracy.

PK was better among mediocre bowlers. I didn't say pace alone is everything. Even a pace bowler needs to do basic things right. Basics are same for everyone but if a pace bowler does that' date=' he will be far more effective. [b']Pace should not be a substitute for skill or vice versa. Both need to come together.

Agree with that. Lets see, as a Indian cricket fan i hope we will someday find a quality pace bowler.

We should never use this as a template. I rate Indian pacers above this pathetic Lungan bowling any day skillwise. But generally lungans have better onfield tactics. If Dhoni instructs Ashwin to bowl outside the leg to cotnain runs then we can't buy a wicket.[/quote'] their talent maynot be very inspirational, but their planning is generally good. they execute their plans very well. though as you said they may not be very talented, but they know their limitations and stick to their plans.

Sri Lankan pacers maynot be very talented but they bowl with full effort and often try to bowl to a plan. Our pacers are more talented in terms of ability to move the ball etc. but they , more often than not, bowl without much effort and generally don't bowl to a plan with rare exceptions like Zaheer. Ishant Sharma is capable of bowling 135 to 145 k but we often see him bowling 125 to 135 k. Munaf Patel, RP, Sreesanth etc. were often guilty of the same thing. Most Indians pacers do not like to bowl bouncers as it requires more effort. Lakmal and co. bowl as quickly as they can , whatever that pace might be, and always try bouncers.

Damika Prasad, Eranga and Nuwan pradeep weren't trundling. They bowled at 84-85 mph with lot of intensity throughout the match. I don't know which Indian bowler can match them in terms of intensity. Shami is good but ishanth Sharma and Bhuvi are gonna struggle a lot after initial overs. Especially bhuvi. He didn't swing the white ball in champions trophy matches. Not sure if he can swing @ pace throughout the match let alone the series. Varun can do it, but after seeing him getting dropped in Ipl matches because of lack of fitness tells us that he is not ready for test matches. Umesh would have made a real difference. Mmmm...lol...

Shami looked great in his first series but he's been pretty poor in the last 2. Bhuvi is a slightly superior version of kule. I don't care what their stats are ATM . Lakmal will go on to become one of the top 10 bowlers in the world. He has barely bowled in his career and even his fc average is poor. This will become clearer in the next few years.

He was the 2nd or 3rd best highest wicket taker in Ipl matches before he was rested by the management considering his fitness.
