'India were overconfident in SA and NZ' - Fletcher

Recommended Posts

This Fletcher budda should learn to shut his mouth in media. Just to save his a** he has to blabber something in the media before the start of an important tour!!! All he knows is giving excuses after excuses. If he can't handle a bunch of newbies then what is he there in the team for? In addition to that he has to bad-mouth them in media as if it's some opposition team he is talking about. Yes, the under-confident Cook can get back into form but this team will lose because of their over-confidence. Bloody loser!!!

"People would think I have called him to help the batsmen," Fletcher said. "But actually it's as much for the bowlers. What people don't understand is that the bowlers think like bowlers. I want Rahul to talk to them and make them think like batsmen. That way they will know what areas a batsman likes and doesn't like, which will help them a great deal in forming their strategies. The problem is that the Indian bowlers don't bat or practise batting when they're playing domestic cricket. And so, while they understand their bowling, they don't understand batting.
After All the flak fletcher is given here. Dont know if anyone read this. Looks like a good point. Bowlers need to understand batting as well. will help them bat with lower order batsmen and also helps them think like a bat while bowling.

If he is suggesting that Rahul Dravid is going to make all the difference to the bowling unit, then that's pure misconception. Our bowlers' main issue is discipline, line and length which Rahul can't do anything about. Joe Dawes should have been working to get it right, esp. for someone like Ishant who is having a chronic problem with his wrist not being straight at the point of release. If bowlers start thinking as batsmen that's not going to make any difference unless you are thinking bowler. If that were the case then allrounders should have been the best bowlers which has not been the case. One of the best thinking bowler McGrath and Zaheer were pure tailenders. But still they set-up batsmen because firstly they had the skills to land the ball where they willed and secondly they had a plan for each batsman based on his weakness and not one general plan for all batsmen.

May be complacent in NZ' date=' but we did well in SA because of determination we showed there. One of the ex SA players also mentioned this of how surprised he was to see the Indian batsmen were still so determined after having a good 1st Test.[/quote'] even in nzl, after getting hammered in the odis and fully knowing that the bowling line up was sh1t(after their heroics in joberg :cantstop:),u cant be overconfident going into the test serie
