India hint at five-bowler strategy

Recommended Posts

Binny's selection is a real ***** up. Maybe he expected something more out of him and then realized that this useless sh!t has no talent and hence no use in giving him bowling. I hope they drop this guy next game and pick a genuine wicket taker. We already have a bits and piece cricketer in Jadeja, we cannot afford a useless guy like Binny in a test 11.

So you Binny fans. He has bowled only 5 overs, whats the point in him. Could have played genuine bat! Why did dhoni pick him , as clearly he don't rate him
Better to have played him and seen how he does and how our composition would be. Tbh i love the 5 bowler idea but here's what i would do Drop Binny and have B Kumar in his place. He is a better bat and can be night watchman whenever. Then have your 3 other seamers: Ishant, Shami and Pankaj. 3 hit the deck bowlers, good pace, carry, bounce etc. Pankaj can get early wickets with bhuvi. So in total you have 4 seamers and if you play ashwin who needs a go instead of jadeja (who has done a decent holding job but has been tonked and no wickets), then you have a good 7 batsmen So my team next test: MJ, Dhawan, Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, Ashwin, Dhoni, Bhuvi, Shami, Pankaj, Ishant Pretty sweet side considering bhuvi got 4 wkts on a flat pitch

At home spinner can bowl majority of overs...in away matches fast bowlers have to bowl so use some common sense ..
you use some little commonsense first after hundred of years of test cricket, have you discovered something millions of others have not? are you so deluded? how have teams managed with 4 bowlers for over 100 years? why have teams like Australia and west indies who could have fielded 6to 7 international bowlers often used only 4 ? and you expect dhoni to be a no 6? i have seen cricket for over 30 years and i have historical and factual evidence right on my fingertips....i care two hoots for irrational beliefs of posters Also you are missing a basic point the point of playing is about winning matches. winning matches comes first a long way and it makes sense to discuss issues like sharing workload ,only under the context of winning matches. Taking off a precious asset like a batsman jeopardises our chances significantly. Right now there may be unsettled batsmen...but its important they are developed into settled players and there is no time for mediocrities like binny and the fifth bowler. To talk about sharing workload by hurting our chances of winning is stupid. If there were 12 players , yes i would have no issue agreeing to 5 bowlers..but our sixth batsman has to be a strong specialist and that's why we cannot have the 5th bowler dhoni cannot cut it at 6.
that is why every country in world today plays atleast 5 bowlers
you are again wrong. an average opinion is not generally high quality...you have to learn from the best and the brightest the greatest ever teams depended on high quality specialists-batsman and bowlers ..may be hacks like harper and Harvey come and go.but the domination came from world class matchwinners that's all you need. sa and pak had plenty of allrounders..sa had two or three of the premier ones...and still they never could be undisputed no 1 .even having the best allroudner is not going to make you reach number 1 i warned Pakistanis years ago that allrounders will ruin their team. goto pak forum.today they regularly lament how their batting is spoilt by batsmen with low averages like hafeez and shoaib malik...their allrounders are way better than binny dhoni is setting a very dangerous precedent by bringing in players like binny. that's why i am very harsh on this move. depend on matchwinning batsmen and bowlers.its basic and simple.that's all Imran did In india's case for the near future, hope our bowlers get bowler friendly conditions to get 1 -0 wins or 1-1 draws. a 5th bowler is not going to accomplish anything

Varun a roon shud play for binny..Varun Is faster than Pankaj and even a better batsman. Ashwin is a better batsman than jaddu and he shud play.
Varun couldnt get a single wicket in both warmup matches.Pankaj was lot better

youngindia, this is not about the greatest team. we are not the greatest team so why are we supposed to be structured like one ? Great teams have 2 decisively incisive bowlers and 1 more bowler who can hold his end up very well at the very least. Do we have that ? No. That is why we need a 5th bowler because the reality of the situation is, Indian bowlers currently available wont take 10 wickets an innings sooner than in 120-130 overs or so per innings and that is too much of a workload for the bowlers to survive in a 4 bowler format. When you don't have bowlers who can effectively dismiss sides for 80 overs per innings average, its no point in going with 4 bowler model unless you got atleast two spinners in the frey who can be relied upon to give 40-45 overs and not be totally dead after. This is why teams include bits-n-pieces players sometimes in hope that they can hold a bat a bit and bowl 10-15 overs unnoticed, just to share the workload. We have an ideal candidate in Ravi Ashwin for that.

Dhoni must have been lured watching binny bowl in Bangladesh. Even I thought he could chip in with couple of wickets. I was wrong. No shame in accepting that I was wrong. Binny is a joke.
I am not getting it.. If he is lured. he should have given him a longer spell . Not one or two over spell. It is about Dhoni trying to tell the selectors "I don't want Binny. I will hurt other bowlers until you get rid of him"
