express bowling
Nightwatchman Somerville dismissed with a bouncer first ball after lunch by Umesh. The tailender was allowed to bat the whole of the first session. Yes, 3 or 4 bouncers were bowled but a bit more hostility early on could have seen him being dismissed much earlier. express bowling
Umesh is bowling with much higher intensity in the 2nd session. Why was it missing in the first session with just 3 sessions to win the match ? Mosher 1 Link to comment
Mosher
Umesh is getting a bit of reverse. Bowling well in this spell but needs to up his pace now. 136-138 not fast enough. Edited November 29, 2021 by Mosher express bowling 1 Link to comment
Axl100mph
Meanwhile shaheen gets a fiver, with his fastest being 148.9. No reverse on offer, just bouncer, yorker, length ploy used. Edited November 29, 2021 by Axl100mph Link to comment

But don't take results vs Bangladesh seriously. Worst test playing nation by some margin. Even Zimbos with zero facility are better. Link to comment

Well, i m the first guy who says that this team's results should not be judged as of yet, because barring babar, rizwan, fawad and Hasan, the rest of the lot are either too young at test level, or are just journeymen/too old who are going to be replaced very soon. Abdullah has finally been handed a debut and he has struck two 50's in both innings;not out still. He is going to make the headlines for our batting going forwards. On Shaheen; he does have a great ceiling but he isnt a complete bowler yet. However, being the highest wicket taker this year shows that he is on the upward trend and getting better. Link to comment
rollingstoned
neither umesh nor ishant were anywhere close to the required mark in this match. ishant especially struggled throught which was visible even from the way he was running in. if their performance was half as good as Southee and Jamiesons it would have been enough for us to win. after the batting they are the culprits. express bowling 1 Link to comment

A look.at the pacers with lowest averages who have taken 50+ test wickets in tests in Asia, tell us that most were either 140 k+ pacers or got steep bounce from a very high release point. It is basically the same story almost everywhere in tests and even ODIs. https://stats.espncricinfo.com/ci/engine/stats/index.html?bowling_pacespin=1;class=1;continent=2;filter=advanced;orderby=bowling_average;qualmax1=700;qualmin1=50;qualval1=wickets;spanmin1=29+Nov+1971;spanval1=span;template=results;type=bowling Mosher 1 Link to comment
express bowling
Need to bring in Prasidh in place of a jaded Ishant in the 2nd test. ( Siraj should be the automatic first choice, if fit ) Mosher 1 Link to comment

We missed 3-4 of our frontline batsmen too Rohit, Rahul, Kohli, Pant. Pujara and Rahane are past it. Mayank is struggling against everyone. Also those bowlers aren't like India's who are short and skiddy and depends on pace. Look at Zaheer who was good overseas but at home was below average. That's why prime shami and umesh were beasts in India. Bumrah too has a good record in ranji. Link to comment

No excuse for being outbowled by Southee and co by that wide margin. Link to comment

Although he did well post lunch. is it age? he is only 33. he appears young and still looks like a tank. like you said, i would rather have fully fit inferior players with potential to half fit quality players. prasidh and siraj should be in next game if umesh is not fit. I believe bumrah, shami will be rested. express bowling 1 Link to comment
