Vs Bangladesh C as well..  Bangers don't play pace well at all.  Only two who do score runs..  Mushfiq & liton.

Is that his fault though?

It is an absolute low bounce phatta, so getting wickets over here still counts for a lot; besides he did get Liton out with an old ball.

I never said he didn't bowl well..  But don't take results vs Bangladesh seriously.  Worst test playing nation by some margin.  Even Zimbos with zero facility are better.

Well, i m the first guy who says that this team's results should not be judged as of yet, because barring babar, rizwan, fawad and Hasan, the rest of the lot are either too young at test level, or are just journeymen/too old who are going to be replaced very soon.

Abdullah has finally been handed a debut and he has struck two 50's in both innings;not out still. He is going to make the headlines for our batting going forwards.

On Shaheen; he does have a great ceiling but he isnt a complete bowler yet. However, being the highest wicket taker this year shows that he is on the upward trend and getting better.

Need to look beyond Umesh now. Younger pacers need to play more. You can't be really successful in India without bowling 140+

True  !

A look.at the pacers with lowest averages who have taken 50+ test wickets in tests in Asia, tell us that most were either 140 k+ pacers or got steep bounce from a very high release point.

It is basically the same story almost everywhere in tests and even ODIs.

Southee and jamieson both were successful just this match without bowling 140. Bhuvi averages 26 in india

Bhuvi has mostly played on greenish tracks in India like Eden Gardens 2016. Regarding Southee and Jamieson, our batting has been poor. We missed 3-4 of our frontline batsmen too Rohit, Rahul, Kohli, Pant. Pujara and Rahane are past it. Mayank is struggling against everyone. Also those bowlers aren't like India's who are short and skiddy and depends on pace.

Look at Zaheer who was good overseas but at home was below average.

They are tall and possess ability to actually swing.

Prime bhuvi could swing. We don't have good swing bowlers. So pace is the best option. That's why prime shami and umesh were beasts in India. Bumrah too has a good record in ranji.

Not in australia. You need fast bowlers in Australia. 136-145 bowling bowlers are key in Australia and s Africa.

Umesh and Ishant have to do better than the crappy performance they put up in this test. They have to be kicked out of the team for this useless performances. No excuse for being outbowled by Southee and co by that wide margin.

I said the same ... that is you need 140 k+ pacers almost everywhere which means 136 k to 145 k pacers.

Additionally, really tall pacers who get steep bounce ... like McGrath do well too.

what happened to the unit bro. umesh the unit. he was a beast before. he dint do too well vs kiwis with his favourite SG ball.

first time i have seen him struggle. Although he did well post lunch.

is it age? he is only 33. he appears young and still looks like a tank.

like you said, i would rather have fully fit inferior players with potential to half fit quality players.

prasidh and siraj should be in next game if umesh is not fit. I believe bumrah, shami will be rested.
