True. I think 8 catches were dropped off Bumrah in 3 test matches. Even if 4 catches were taken, he would have averaged 23 for the series.

Yes absolutely. Pathetic fielding.

Sometimes average doesn't tell the whole story. Bumrah was the reason we won mcg and Rahane. Even first game. Bumrah was brutal. So Unlucky with easy dropped dollies.

God I remember vihari dropping labu at 38. Then he ended up scoring 90 odd. Vihari helped us draw though so good on him.

That's why arm chair quarter backs who don't even watch full game shouldn't comment.

Bumrah is truly special. Class is permanent. Form is temporary.

Also Cummins played alongside full strength Aussie attack.

India dint have Shami or Ishant for bouncy Condtions. Those 2 are essential for Aussie conditions.

This made a big difference to the hostility we could display. The Indian fast bowlers were very hostile in the first test and the practice matches.

But losing senior pacers in succession meant that Bumrah had to be more cautious about bowling flat out.

best pacers are even slower than that

Top pacers of the last 10 years ... Cummins, Bumrah, Steyn, Rabada, Shami etc.are / were all that pace range of 133 k to 148 k.

Only English and NZ pacers can be slower as they play more than 50% of their matches in swing friendly conditions. But most of them do poorly in Asia.

in india might as well go for spinners

In India and in Asia, as the tracks are slow and low, it is the skiddy quick pacers like Shami, Umesh, Steyn etc. who have done well.

But to phattus here, they will say 'arey, boomrah only bowling below 140 only. He is not the same anymore. He can't bowl with intensity. He lost his zip. He lost his cojones'.

Form is temporary. Class is permanent. Bumrah is just that. Top class. Repsect a generational player when you see one.

You may never see one like him again.

pacers are generally ineffective in asia .

Check out the number of wickets taken by Indian pacers in tests in India in the last 4 years.

134 wickets by pacers

186 wickets by spinners

So,  42% wickets taken are by pacers.

pacers are generally ineffective in asia .in wi pitches and duke ball are very helpful ,so again you dont need much pace ,likes of roach ,holder  are not quick even alzarri rarely clocks over 145.

Pacers have been handy in India from 2016 specially Indian, this series was of course dominated by spinners

WI wrecked havoc thanks to Gabriel in recent times that too in WI

Pace is always helpful if you have little bit of discipline

Holder is tall and bowls those in immaculate lines ,Roach,Alzarri all of them have bowled in right areas and with aggressive field settings they got rewarded ,one can't blame bowlers if their fielders don't support them by dropping 6-8 catches off them

one thing that struck me about anderson was that some of his wkt-taking balls that I saw in this series were around 136-138 although of course his avg speed is high 120s-low 130s. remarkable for a nearly 39 yr old bowler.

In India you have to up your pace to extract reverse swing(and to maximize its impact)

SA,Eng are the only place where ball does seam around for long time compared to Aus ,India(prior 2020)

NZ is a place where it seams prodigiously for a brief period in the beginning
