it's not that they are out of gas. the pitch is pretty flat. but more importantly, they would much rather go full throttle in tourneys like IPL or T20 WC

nah both Bumrah and Siraj are bowling slower than before.Fatigue is natural.

Siraj is a pacer who has looked really good when the pitch has provided some assistance. Like Melbourne, Gabba, Ahmedabad 4th test and Lord's.

But he has looked unimpressive on pitches which don't provide that much help. Probably lacks the extra pace for such surfaces.

Early days but if this trend continues then we should probably use him mostly on helpful surfaces where he is a match winner ... and rest him on flatter surfaces.

In other words, we need to be looking to unearth bowlers who can make something happen even on flattish tracks. need pacers with extra pace and bounce. shows where we are missing out on developing prasidh. and then avesh and tyagi

For thd first time since 2015, Team India is lacking pace in its test bowling if Bumrah is tired.

Shami and Umesh are well into their 30s and have become Fast-medium from Fast.

Siraj is Fast-medium

Ishant and Shardul are medium pacers now.

Bumrah is Fast but is bowling within himself a bit too often in 2021.

Where is the extra pace which is needed on flat surfaces  ????

(  We could not get England out before an enormous score in the 1st test in Chennai  earlier this year. )

We need to solve this issue. Bumrah used to be the enforcer pacer in 2018 and 2019.  Who is the enforcer now ????

Chill out, express-bhai. Unadcutter has your back - he will enforce the fear of God into the batsmen through his 100 km per hour cutters.

Our Fast Bowlers need to use the bouncer as a set-up ball on this flat surface. Otherwise they will never get wickets.

Push the batters back with a bouncer or two. Then pitch the ball up.  The batters won't be so decisive in their footwork and may get out.

I don't know why this age old technique is not used regularly on most surfaces.

Reluctance to use the bouncer as a set-up ball is one area where modern fast bowlers have regressed big time. The fast bowlers of the 1980s and 1990s were far more liberal in the use of bouncers. You would see one or two bouncers every over.

I wonder if this is because, as you have written, our pacers are somewhat down in pace at the moment. this strategy works better if one has extra pace and/or bounce. this is where the likes of prasidh could have come in.
