Sundar - Is he the next Chahal in making. Selectors would pick him as he might be the only off-spinner in Ind, but it big ICC events TM and captains would clearly know that he can not make it to the playing 11.

 

V.limited as off spinner, does not have a bowl that spins away. Hardly has power to bat at #7,8 in t20Is and Odis and is amongst slowest fielder out there.

With all these limitation in white-ball how can selectors pick him when even Ashwin is not cut out for T20i and Odis. 

 

Most big teams are utilizing pure batters to offer off-spin- Livingstone (Eng.), Makram (SA), Maxwell (Aus), even NZ uses Phillips who is a  WK first and could be the best WK in NZ.

 

The selection of the bowlers for this series is v.flawed

sundar at best is a part time bowler.  he used to be a specialist batsman in U19 cricket but his fluke early success in IPL meant he was looked upon as a bowler.  if he wants to play for India long, he needs to concentrate on his batting.  his bowling is run of the mill only.

Even Michael Vaughn got Sachin Tendulkar once.  Michael Clark ran through our team both in India and in Australia at SCG.  if Sundar can become a test batsman anywhere close to them than that is great.

His batting too does not give any kind of confidence in white-ball , lacks power and shots for white ball.

Donot think he is test-quality too

Think Mayank was in NCA going under going biomechanics and medical assessments.  BCCI does not want to rush him at this point in time.

May be an A tour some SENA country and till now hopping to get him to Aus for test series, not sure how it would work with new TM.

 

He may be selected for upcoming SL series. but how they have selected Zim tour bowling not sure if this is going to happen.

yes I heard too they may play him in SL series but no updates after that hence wanted to confirm if someone knows..

The selections have been v.random, previously heard the Sanju and other guys from WC winning team have withdrawn from Zim tour but now looks like they have already reached there.

Biomechanics assessments --hope they donot ask him to cut off pace.  

 

If Mayank is not selected then TM and selectors should try Sen and may b Umran - he looked more confident in Odis

to fix fitness..even I can say cut down pace..their job is to fix it without cutting down pace

Have always admired his fighting attitude and ability to perform in big matches. He wants to win at all costs. 

 

I hope he brings in some new genuine fast bowlers who are accurate too and help us win tests away from home / big tournaments and also give us an exciting brand of cricket to watch.

I am keeping an open mind about Vinay Kumar as bowling coach.  He was a medium pacer but tried to bowl with effort and did not float the ball up like Mhambrey. Vinay lacked ability but not effort.

 

Heard him talk about the importance of pace and bounce in international cricket. 

 

Don't know how he is as a bowling coach though. How much he knows about biomechanics or helping other bowlers.

Lankan team will be selected after discussions with Gautam so lets see his preferences. i remember GG liked saini and i heard mayank yadav too....hope he gives opportunities to umran , sen , Mayank , harshit.after so many days i liked that bouncer from Avesh ( he got zimbabwe Skipper), i am sure it was a 138K bouncer ( though it showed less) but such awkward length , hitting the Head even a 136K bouncer will be as hard as 145K as it is reaching the Head and a batsman has no choice but to loop it in the air and get out.

Mayank got few wickets like that but at balls which were 145K where as avesh got at around 136k

 

i have a feeling he supports fast bowlers and is fond of kuldeep yadav and the young Indian Spinner who bowled

Do not think  great coaches have to be a great player during their playing days, great players does not understand the struggle of a common and non high gifted player.

 

Shoib or Lee 's coaches were not express, coaching Ind team is different as all Ind players behave like super stars and mostly are hyped. A team Ind coach has to navigate all those kind of non-cricket related thing.

Do not know if Vinay Kumar has exp. and credentials to coach intnl side or not but how bad could he be can he be as bad as current bowling coach....??

 

Its been a disappointment where Ind bowling reserves are for being a team with 3/4 top draw fast bowlers and bench of 5 bowler Ind is effectively down to 1-2 test bowlers.

There was some1 who is capable of bowling 150 kmph and they are unable to improve him get him sorted.

 

There was definite liking towards sub 140 kmph under current management.

Umran was dropped mid way, Sen was dropped after 2 matches, Akash Deep didnt play after 1 test, there was no effort in finding replacements for Ishant, Shami and Umesh.

 

The replacements they got are still bowling slower (not talking of skill ) than these retired or near to retirement bowlers.
