Out batting was always hyped but performed to its potential rarely outside home. Though current batting lineup is not as strong as Fab-4 days on paper , they are performing better. I hope the young team overtakes them one day and I will be proud of it. But please don't talk like someone with no understanding of the game,If this is an attempt to troll MTC and others let me know I will contribute in taking this thread in a different direction

While I doubt previous players got any exposure outside India except for playing in county...[/quote'] there is one more change in BCCIs attitude.. until recently BCCI will schedule only 1 practice game before each series , after heavy defeats they started organizing more practice games .. if i am not wrong , in ur last visit to england there was only one 3 day game and cunnng strauss screwed that game too

But when some of them prolonged their career to mentor these young batsmen for a couple of years, the same guys were still complaining. No wonder these batsmen like Pujara and Kohli sing praises of them and how they guided them smoothly into international cricket. Job well done, unlike a certain Lara who wanted to retire on a 'high' and left his team''s batting flounder completely. Imagine someone like Bravo, Gayle, etc having someone like Lara to groom them for a couple of years, West Indies would never have lost their way in batting, IMO. From what I see, these new guys are complete maverick, with talent but no guidance or direction at all and seem confused, just like Indian bowlers I believe a true legend is not only one who performs at the peak when he is in the team, but also what kind of legacy he leaves behind, how many people follow the path he has have taken, how well the ones after him continue the legacy. If our future generation had not taken up the mantle, it would have been a huge failure for the big guys. As of now, job well done at least in one department.

Dravid and Sachin were some of the all time run-getters in England with Sachin averaging almost 70 in England. in SA Sachin carted Steyn to all parts too. Youngsters seem to be on the right track though
jf1gp_1 Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 To early to say new guys are better but yet as a batting unit we have had a remarkably quick transition and these guys bat as if they all have 50+ test under their belt. Now if only someone could make our selectors, coach and above all captain to choose the right bowlers.

As for Lara mentoring others, Gayle and Sarwan played for more than 6 years with Lara, Dwayne Bravo played for 2 years and if you meant Darren Bravo, not sure if at the time of his retirement Lara in 2006 would have known if Darren would play for WI 5 years later.

More importantly they rarely performed well as bating unit. Guy like Ganguly especially acts as if he was don Bradman overseas .

At least now we are hearing some sense of ownership of failures from young guys which was a rarity earlier. these are very early days yet so long way to even start a comparison with fab 4.

During their peak 2002-2011.India has the best away record in its hsitory.
