achilles Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 Hi achillies, good to see you back :icflove:. Agree with you. Binny is being portrayed as useless. He didn't give him the chance to bat in NZ, sent Ash and Jaddu ahead of him. Didn't give him to bowl more than one over. Hi G. Good to see you too :icflove: Yes bro. All I'm asking for, is some time. You never know how good he would turn out to be. Just curios' date='why are u defending him?very unlike u to defend a mediocre player :hmmm:[/quote'] I'm just amazed at how fast we have been, in judging Binny. Had we judged every player in his initial outings, there would have never been a Ganguly, Kumble, Srinath, Laxman, Dravid and Tendulkar.

He hasn't done anything to be not judged that quickly. His 120k bowling will only work against Bangladesh. We'd not judge those players you mentioned so quickly because their FC career was much better. They had potential :--D
TNAmarkFrmIndia Posted July 13, 2014 Posted July 13, 2014 So do Binny. Binny can at least somewhat bowl at a good length consistently. Kohli has no control of his bowling at all.

Batting is all good but he was picked to bowl and whatever he bowled it was mediocre. If want to play him then say he is a batsman who can bowl a few overs, not an alrounder and bat him at 6.
Sachinism Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Binny drew the test. There's nothing more Dhoni loves than to draw a test. On a serious note. As much as I don't feel he deserves to be there, he did play a match saving knock in a sense. He is a rubbish bowler and unless he's playing as a batsman its doesn't make sense to play him.

rkt.india Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 so you want Binny to be the scapegoat despite the fact that Jadeja bowled worse on a pitch suiting spin and batted much worse? dont want Jadeja too.
kruiser Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Binny batted well does not mean his replacement would have batted worse.. Ashwin is a better batsman and would have bowled much more than Binny on this pitch. How successful he would have been is anybody's guess. I am all for giving Binny a chance, but on a seaming pitch. This was a horrible selection knowing that it is a dry pitch.
vvvslaxman Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Ashwin can bat like a top order but at no 8 . Moment you push him up,the order it becomes a lottery. With no pressure he bats well at no 8. Even for his sons state he bats low down the order. Binny is more used to playing in the middle order. So it is not a straight and simple one on one replacement. One good thing is he managed to keep Rohit Sharma away. All the others are fine except him.
FreakazoiD Posted July 14, 2014 Posted July 14, 2014 Batting is all good but he was picked to bowl and whatever he bowled it was mediocre. If want to play him then say he is a batsman who can bowl a few overs' date=' not an alrounder and bat him at 6.[/quote'] Binny was picked ahead of Rohit Sharma to do the 5th bowler's job, which was to hold one end up while the front line bowlers got a breather. He was never expected to tear through the opposition batting, although in swinging conditions that might yet be a distinct possibility. That Dhoni only bowled him 10 overs speaks more about Dhoni's captaincy and the state of the pitch than Binny's ability. And when he got his chance with the bat, he took it, and thank God for that. I personally feel Binny deserves one more chance, and not least because we do not have a world beater sitting on the bench waiting for his turn. And no, tried-and-tested pretenders like Rohit and Ashwin do not count as world beaters despite their IPL exploits.
