You don't need a specialist spinner for that. Even Dhawan, Kohli or Rohit would do. Also, if you insist on bowling seamers, umpires will be forced to call off play.

If it is actually very bad track where teams are getting out under 200 I can understand playing Binny ahead of ashwin but on normal English track with grass on it Binny won't do much after 4 bowlers have bowled while ashwin will add variety Nd might even get tailenders with his stupid variation... Not to mention our age old problem of bowling too slowly and our captain getting banned mid series ...:cantstop:

Btw between rohit and ashwin who do you trust on green track ? My view is not based on just 2 series but I have never once seen him play comfortably in conditions which assist swing..even in ipl steyn made mockery of him with new ball which he some how survived

actually Binny will do more than Ashwin on green tracks.Ashwin needs help in pitch to be effective even against tailenders as for over rates we can bowl Binny and Mooli if situation is extreme.can't waste a spot for that.

While I agree he should be more effective but after 4 right hand bowlers all better than Binny in every way when he comes to bowl how will that help? It's matter of balance ...in 4 man quick bowling attack addition of ashwin will add lot more than addition of Binny .. Same way at home in 3 man spin bowling attack adding 4 th spinner will add less than adding quick bowler ...even though pace vs spin has no competition spin easily wins in India ....did that make sense ?

Binny will help more as even when hes bowling to keep end tight,he has better chance to pick up wickets than Ashwin.There is always a chance of partnership building and then main bowlers are tired so 5th bowler can be a partnership breaker in that case in India pacer can still be effective with reverse swing etc,but we've seen Ashwin is totally ineffective on green tracks.So its not the same thing.

You are really overrating Ashwin's batting. He could have scored some runs in India and Australia but can he do the same when the ball is swinging ? I think he is suspect with his footwork. Not saying he is not a decent batsman, but you can't really say he deserves a place for his batting alone because he won't do much with the ball here. A seamer who can even bowl 125k and can get the ball to swing is a better option in England.

i think people are under rating rohit. Lets not forget that he did open in the champions trophy when the ball was swinging and did a decent job. He will slot in at 6 extremely well.

Lol you are forgetting your own comments here:cantstop: For me problem is he has never ven played in I ga like rahane did against Haryana in ranji or like rahane did in a tour in South Africa,...he has always struggled against swing and playing swing in one day where once u survive 2 overs the main bowler will be taken off for 2 or more spell is quite different ... Did steyn played for South Africa in champions trophy ? After that We got to play teams like Sri Lanka, Pakistan etc and all of them had bad tournament as bowlers and conditions were dry ad batting easy with dhawan taking all pressure off
