Mariyam Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Why do they need ambassador in the first place to waste public money .I thought they didn't had much funds for their region . They need a brand ambassador for precisely the same reason. To get funds for the state. And a marketable face/ some one in the showbiz is always going to be a better brand ambassador than say a writer or a mathematical whiz. It has to be someone in the spot light.
Mariyam Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Mariyamjee...I don't think anyone sane will object to Sania as brand ambassador...She has carried herself well and has some good accomplishments...no doubt on that...If her accomplishments were the reason she was chosen, then no issues...However, thats not the case unfortunately As localites, we can clearly see the vote bank politics of KCR - TRS...We have Hyderabad local elections soon and as you might know, Hyderabad has >40% muslims...There is no way this did not play a part in Sania's selection... As I mentioned earlier, it would have been better to have a panel of ambassadors - especially since it is a newly formed state and needs branding.... Some years ago there was vociferous fatwabaazi by a certain 'leader' on the perceived Islamicness ( or lack there off) of Sania Mirza's attire when she played tennis. To say that Sania Mirza is a doyen of the conservative orthodox segment of the Muslim populace of Hyderabad is hardly correct. If anything this move would alienate those voters away from the TRS.
kubrickian Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 There are several prominent people from Hyderabad in the field of sports like Pullela Gopichand, VVS Laxman, Koneru Humpy etc. and several from arts but most of them are from Andhra region which these TRS goons hate. The only "local" people you will find in Telangana are Brandy Ambassadors who get drunk at 6 PM and then wake up at 11 AM the next day.
gattaca Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 I dunno, the greatest Indian woman tennis player is quite an achievement in my eyes. She is a pioneer in that front Once again, how on earth can a poet be a brand ambassador? Do you even understand what that means? The brand ambassador can only be a famous celebrity and out of all you mention, only VVS stands scrutiny. Isn't VVS already brand ambassador of many things in Hyderabad? So what happened to sania nehwal. No Hyderabad Traffic Police.

NareshK Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Why do they need ambassador in the first place to waste public money .I thought they didn't had much funds for their region . Who told you Andhra Pradesh doesnt have funds ? AP has the second highest GDP in India only after Maharashtra. Creation of Telangana has nothing to do with lack of funds or anything. Its purely a decision made because of regionalism and politics.
maniac Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Sania is an indian fair enough but indian immigration laws dont even consider a paki or a Bangladeshi as a pio or an oci. .....that shows the kind of animosity we have towards them.....this chick.married a paki....now that's her personal preference and to top it all she is the epitome of a washed up has been underacheiver ....so don't know on what basis she can be a role model. Vvs laxman if you consider sports or else there are so many better worthwhile people in other streams of arts and sports.
AmreekanDesi Posted July 24, 2014 Posted July 24, 2014 Mohammad 'Match-fixer' Azharuddin as the brand ambasaddor of telangana :haha: cleared by the courts :finger:
gattaca Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 cleared by the courts :finger: He is not fit to tie shoe laces of vvs laxman or for that matter Sania Mirza.
diga Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 The jury is out on how many Muslims actually care for this sort of tokenism, but the intent of TRS in naming Sania Mirza as the brand ambassador is open to scrutiny. from the official twitter acct of Saina.... Saina Nehwal @NSaina · 11h I am happy to know that sania mirza has become the brand ambassador of telengana and I am proud of telengana but Saina Nehwal @NSaina · 11h - I am very hurt and sad that I have still not received the cash award from my state for the Olympic bronze medal that I won for my country & the junta were saying Telengana/AP had enough funds & this is not minority appeasement..
Filandering Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Completely expected from communal party. We have to pay a huge price for brining them to power.
Sachin=GOD Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 A brand ambassador is usually someone famous and whom more people can recognize. Sania and Saina were the only options in this regard IMO.

TRS or congress could have paid the promised money to Saina .. its almost 2 years since that olympic medal and this will turn into communal angle now

CSK Fan Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 from the official twitter acct of Saina.... & the junta were saying Telengana/AP had enough funds & this is not minority appeasement.. Once again you bring a point nothing to do with the topic. As if you have no idea how government funding work and how many sportsmen(from all religion) in this country are awaiting such prizes Just because someone, even Sania, was promised something, doesn't mean they will get it today itself. Such things are delayed because our civil proceedings are pathetic and full of bureaucracy and not because of some conspiracy. Each and every government thing is similarly delayed
CSK Fan Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 Actually, that would be a distinct possibility. The jury is out on how many Muslims actually care for this sort of tokenism, but the intent of TRS in naming Sania Mirza as the brand ambassador is open to scrutiny. You would be among the few in the country (so to speak) who would look at a Honda ad with religious eyes.. In this regard, I do not find you any different from those who you are targeting in the post (those who fall for tokenism) except you are an extremist on this side of the fence
CSK Fan Posted July 25, 2014 Posted July 25, 2014 lol' date=' Saina Nehwal has accomplished WAY MUCH MORE than Sania Mirza has in her field. At topic, don't see any reason why Sania can't be an ambassador for Hyderabad.[/quote'] Yes, but breaking into tennis is much more difficult than badminton. In a way Sania has been a pioneer for Indian women in tennis, we have had good women badminton player before.

As if you have no idea how government funding work and how many sportsmen(from all religion) in this country are awaiting such prizes yeah.. in the larger context of a brand ambassodor getting 1crore & attracting investments in the state with municipal elections in the near future, its an irrelevant point
