And then again in 2012. The pitch was flat. We could have easily scored more. And we are not talking about 1970s so 290 on a flat deck in Bangladesh against Bangla boys isnt that great either :giggle: Yes, not that great a record for Dhoni, but then we are talking about Kohli here.

Pujara is not even in contention. BCCI is preparing Kohli long for this role and no way they will replace him. Anyway, Indian team minus Dhoni will be constantly rank 6 - 7th in ICC rankings. Kohli may be the obvious choice for ODI captaincy but if M$D is sacked/gives up test captaincy then I think Pujara will be the top contender.

Many reasons, few below: Our team just went thorugh a massive transition with big 4 retired and Kumble, Viru retired. A presence of a fatherly figure is required for atleast a year more unless the young players are self established. Everyone respects Dhoni in the team, to a extent that they treat him like a school teacher.With him being out young players might have an ego clash with no one to intervene. Imagine making Pujara captain of the test team will not be taken lightly by Kohli and vice versa. Incident like Jadeja taunting Raina of losing captaicy will relapse time and again. Coming out of all this and to become self dependent mature cricketer will take minimum of year and half. We already rank 5 now and slowly will move 6 -7 as teams like SL & NZ will give us tough fight as they have senior experinced cricketers.
