FreakazoiD Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 Pankaj doesn't seem capable of maintaining good intensity over long periods of time, which is essential at this level against good batsmen. Bowling well in patches means that batsmen only have to get through those periods, and then he is there for the taking rest of the day. This is what happened on day 1. Yes he was unlucky to have a catch dropped early and a decision not going his way, but after tea he was trundling in bowling 79 mph dollies, looking like a Rajasthan Royals net bowler. I think he has good potential but has to toughen up mentally at this level rather than lamenting about bad luck.

You think Ishu who never gets injured mid series, suddenly gets injured from no where and Dhobi becomes benevolent suddenly and picks up Pankaj, is just a mere coincidence? Pankaj's career is killed by most ruthless manner. I hope he remembers it and takes revenge against Dhobi, personally, once he retires...

adi B Posted July 30, 2014 Posted July 30, 2014 He was unlucky,yes.he does bowl well in his initial spells with good effort but fades away later in the day and goes for easy runs doesn't have great stamina either. The thing is he bowled good to fuller lengths fine but didn't bowl bouncers or slip in a yorker or two.these are the chances u can't let go off especially when the captain will bring his favourite player back in the next match.

I hope he does. But there definitely was promose. We have given test matches to total hacks like Unadakat, Mithun and the legend of Vinay Kumar so Pankaj deserved his chance too. He has not done worse than those guys and this will be a great learning experience for him and something he can use to come back stronger

Reminds me of Bryce McGain's debut for Australia. Toiled for years in domestic cricket and just didn't have the right frame of mind when he got his chance. Kimber wrote a very emotional article on his journey too. Cricket can be a cruel game sometimes.

Yes he bowled poorly after losing steam the 2nd innings but he showed promise overall unlike Vinay who was smacked all around and was treated with contempt
