In WI even Dhoni can play captain's knock.
Notsure what you mean bythat lol how does that make PUjara a bad captain. That was merely to suggest captaincy doesn't affect his batting.

I don't think it is captaincy and i don't think it is the selection, it is the failure of the whole system. If we go back to 2011, when we lost 4-0 to england, it is said that our pace attack is one-dimensional, no pace, no aggression. And then the search for real, tear away fast bowler began. And then luckily we got two , yadav n aaron, fast, mean, erratic but wicket taking. But then comes the part how to nourish them, to graduate them to the next level, to bring skills, to educate them like how to set up a batsman, so that from raw fast bowling talents they can be intimidating and ATG fast bowlers who could run through the opposition. But Alas! that never happened. After 3 years still we see in england the similar trundler brigrade in operation that we saw then, no pace no aggression. And our captain can't even bring aaron to the team now even if he wish. Nobody will. No captain want a bowler who would give you a boundary ball every over, no matter at how much pacy he is. so Dhoni is not alone the culprit, the culprit is the system, the coach, selectors and everyone who never allowed umesh n aaron to reach their full potential. They are still fast but raw and so is our system, management, our mentality.

As much as I have been critical of dhonis captaincy and a strong proponent that he should go here is the same old there is no alternative factor again. If zak was still around or bhajji hadn't fallen of the radar completely than May be but let me play the devils advocate here for a second and try to analyze the options Kohli- before the series hands down would have voted for him but the way he has performed in this series and to add to that his overall test record where he has been patchy at best ...yes patchy....he still averages in the low 40s doesn't give me the confidence. In Odis yes absolutely but for what it's worth dhoni is ok in s.c and he has a gun odi side which will win him games so really not much of a concern. Kohli is our future batting great but at a time he is still finding his feet at the test level,don't think it is the way to go. Pujara- well pujara has had 2 back to back mediocre series now.the fact that he is not a loi player and his obvious focus right now being to break through the ranks don't think it will work.different captains for different formats just doesn't work in s.c culture. Vijay,Bhuvi and rahane-even though they have done well for themselves so far from a consistency standpoint,let's be honest this was their breakthrough series.....even though they might have contributed in the previous series,this is probably the first series where it finally felt that ,yes these guys are a must in the starting x1.even though rahane has been our best test performer don't know how much credentials he has as a leader. Rohit,Ashwin,ishant- I mentioned these names only because they have been around the team for a very long time but they are still fringe players at best.ishant has finally done justice for getting a long run but there is always a ? On his consistency and most importantly his temperament.ashwin seems to have great cricketing acumen and seems like an articulate guy but he is a fringe player currently.rohit has been identified as a potential leader atleast at the Ipl level but again fringe player and relatively new to the test format. Binny,jadeja-bits and pieces cricketers. Shami,pankaj,dhawan etc- have their own place in jeapordy.

Forgot to add gambhir-seasoned campaigner and once a contender to be the next captain but now a fringe player at best.completely fallen of the radar.

Pujara out of the current players partly because he's a definite in the team. Actually I think ashwin can become a good tactical captain but then he's not even a regular. Dhoni has to go ,there's no doubt about it,should have been sacked as the captain 2 years ago
