someone Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 One thing I hope is that we play to to our strengths. Many experts always talk about how India must adjust and play a particular way and team to win. The 5 bowlers strategy being one of them. I don't agree with such idea. We don't have great bowlers so 4 or 5 bowlers actually doesn't matter. Basically,we don't have the quality of players to select from. So when our strength is batting, let's make that our focus. 2nd test match was an example of it.

FYI 2nd test match India had 5 genuine batsmen that's it.

Yes, let's discard the formula which caused us to win the Lord's match and chose the one which made us lose :giggle:
Lannister Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Vijay Pujara kohli Rahane Ojha Dhoni (I'd rather sack him and make pujara captain) Binny (As someone said, lucky charm) Ashwin BK Aaron Shami/Ishanth
vvvslaxman Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 We lack the killer instinct. In key moments we made their lives as comfortable as possible. When we had them at 170 for 6 we didn't go for the kill with more men around
adi B Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 is it only me who thinks we can still win at the oval (largeely because of the nature of the pitch)
someone Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Yes' date=' let's discard the formula which caused us to win the Lord's match and chose the one which made us lose :giggle:[/quote'] Our winning formula at Lords was Binny, nothing else mattered. He is the lucky charm. :--D But seriously, our sole focus should be on batting, we can only do well in bowling if we create pressure by scoring huge runs in batting.

FreakazoiD Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Sorry, but Naman Ojha is just not an international level batsman. I saw the video highlights of his innings against Australia A, they were all slow subcontinental type tracks, and most of his runs were off the spinners. His technique is poor, and I can guarantee he will fail. However if the motive is to try someone new because there is no other option, try him out.

The pitches in australia carry more bounce, but don't have swing. A batsman who can handle bounce is bound to score more runs there. But the conditions in england are entirely different, batsman who play late and watch the swing can score. Also, the batsman who scores in england actually can score anywhere. In the present line up, only rahane has scored runs and he has been consistent all through out the season. Rest have been hopeless, pujara was unlucky. gambhir, he is exposed, he does not have range of shots. kohli, howsoever people might defend him, he technical shortcomings are visible.

So Rohit would have scored 300 runs after India was 8 for 4? Ashwin has made 89 runs getting out only once. That more than makes up for 6th batsman.

Our batting is our strength and really we can only win in overseas by creating a scoring good runs which would then create the pressure when bowling.

Dude wtf is your obsession with rohit? Everyone sucks currently...the only guys who can escape blame completely are vijay, rahane and Bhuvi
someone Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 What happened in 3rd test when Rohit was there. Nothing, but that's not the point. The point is strategy, not the individual player. The right strategy has got to be focus on our strength, which is our batting. Let's worry about our bowling later. 7+4 is much better and Ashwin should be our primary spinner.

express bowling Posted August 9, 2014 Posted August 9, 2014 Bring in Naman Ojha. Not because he is better but because he is an unknown entity to the English and his weaknesses have not been analyzed much . Many new batters ,not known to the English, have succeeded initially in this series , only to fail later. Vijay Gambhir Pujara/ Kohli Rahane Naman Ojha Dhoni Ashwin Jadeja Bhuvi Aaron Ishant

Let's worry about our bowling later. 7+4 is much better and Ashwin should be our primary spinner.[/quote'] That is not strategy. That is total bakwas. If only we had used 5 genuine bowlers from the first test with better rotation there would have never been weariness, breakdowns they would have been far more penetrative throughout the day. For peanut 50 extra runs (at most scored by no.6) you give away 200 extra runs with a tired bowling unit which will affect the rest of the series as well. This was repeatedly said by everyone in the very very first test 1000 times. But he acted as if he wanted to prove a point he doesn't need more than 4 he underused 5th bowler. In the third test he made the dumbest team selection. India is not used to playing 5 test series. especially this line up. Gap between first and second test was mere three days. IN addition to that they had to bat as well thanks to our top order. So if anyone needed ultimate comfort cushion that were bowlers not the batsmen considering you have handy lower order batsmen. No.6 batsman brings NOTHING to the table in winning a test. But No.5 specialst bowler enables the captain to rotate the bowlers better and he can have someone like Aaron go for 4 over fast spells .Unless your idea is to draw the test how would you justify a 4 bowler theory . This is all the more ridiculous considering our batsmen can't bowl to save their life.
