Lord Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Given the set of players we have in this squad - it would be immaterial whether we play an extra batsman or bowler. Rohit, Jadeja, Binny .. whoever is,chosen ... have a low probability of succeeding in a meaningful way. The additional bowler or barman must have decent probability of actual performance. Naman Ojha seems like the only choice. Unless Umesh is allowed to play. no Ashwin and 4 pacers is good combo
Yoda-esque Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Haha this will be interesting, after all the "experts" got exactly the team they wanted the previous test.
rkt.india Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Haha this will be interesting' date=' after all the "experts" got exactly the team they wanted the previous test.[/quote'] no matter which team you pick, you need to do well with the bat first to think of winning. Three of the top 6 batsmen dont have even 200 runs in this series.

vvvslaxman Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 What makes you believe that 5 bowlers will get us 20 wickets? We played our best 5 bowlers this last match, and yet they did nothing. There is no point in addressing our bowling weakness by making our strength, batting weaker. Good batting is the only way for our bowlers will do well. Batting runs will bring pressure on the opponents and thus helping our bowlers. So we need good batting lineup and for that, play 7 batsman + Ashwin at 8. Adding extra batsman won't automatically make your batting good. But adding a bowler will enable rotation of bowling better which will prevent over bowling of main bowlers. Tell me the equivalence in batting? Is there anything called over batting? Besides Ashwin replaced 6th batsman who already out scored on a muc challenging surface than the genuine no 6 on a flat track.
vvvslaxman Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 4 bowlers on a flat track is suicidal. We will overwork two of them and concede a 500+ total easily We did that in first test. What we got was lack of steam, injuries nothing else. If 5 batsmen can't score 6th batsmen is going to jack most of the time. Considering one of Ashwin, dhoni, jaddu can click what is the point of adding more and more batsmen.
vvvslaxman Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 I dont understand. We were bowled out for 150 odd at Southampton. And what do we do?We drop another batsman.NAman Ojha should have been given a chance. He was replaced by Ashwin who made 89 runs. There is only so much no.6 bat could do. Dhoni was our no 6. He made 71.
King Tendulkar Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 He was replaced by Ashwin who made 89 runs. There is only so much no.6 bat could do. Dhoni was our no 6. He made 71. But we need MORE RUNS!! So these guys can still score thos runs if at 7 and 8 and strengthens us. Allows us to bring another bat at 6 who may score some. Batting is so weak we need runs. Must have top 6 plus ashwin and then mr corrupt

If 6th batsman gets out for a duck.. imagine the plight of bowling.
BlueBee Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Why so much discussion on this topic. ? India's going to lose anyways. :hehe:
vvvslaxman Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Why so much discussion on this topic. ? India's going to lose anyways. :hehe: Just time pass lol. Virat Kohli will complete epic fail series with a bang.
BlueBee Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Just time pass lol. Virat Kohli will complete epic fail series with a bang. Who is Virat Kohli?
vvvslaxman Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Who is Virat Kohli? Anushka sharma's boy friend :winky:
brendan07 Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Pick the same side and hope Dhoni doesn't bat first on a raging seamer first day would be a good start. Could go with just one spinner though.
CSK Fan Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Relax' date=' old man. Blind hatred is not going to solve anything. Dhoni, the batsman is the least of our worries today.[/quote'] That is like saying Sachin, who was the second best bat on our last tour was the least of our worries and should never have retired. Unlike you people are NOT looking at one series (Drop Kohli, etc, etc.) We are looking at THREE years if performance and failures
FreakazoiD Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Pick the same side and hope Dhoni doesn't bat first on a raging seamer first day would be a good start. Could go with just one spinner though. Same side? No way Gambhir can play at test level ever again! I don't care who replaces him - Dhawan, Rohit, Binny, heck even Ojha. And Ishant has to replace Pankaj if he is fit. These 2 changes are no-brainers really...
maniac Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Rohit hasn't got acclimatized to the conditions yet....playing too far and far in between :nervous:
King Tendulkar Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 1 Rahane 2 Vijay 3 Gambhir/Dhawan 4 Pujara 5 Kohli © 6 Rohit 7 Ashwin 8 Oijha (wk) 9 BK 10 Aaron 11 Yadav
Gunner Posted August 10, 2014 Posted August 10, 2014 Pick the same side and hope Dhoni doesn't bat first on a raging seamer first day would be a good start. Could go with just one spinner though. THIS. We lost the test when Captain Cool won the toss and decided to insert a struggling batting line-up in the best bowling conditions of the summer.
