If anything had to be said...it should have been conveyed to his son privately. Some people just like to make headlines and like to show how much control they have over their adult children.After a certain age ...parents should learn to gracefully be in the background.Something most Indian parents refuse to accept. He was just presented with a bottle...not forced to drink.Some things should be accepted gracefully. Do we see other teams protesting when they are made to put tilak and wear stolls as part of our welcome. Parents don't want to stop controlling children and children also like to depend on their parents. In many cases, children have the ability to be completely independent but act like 12-year old kids because they don't want to take responsibility for their own actions.

Because I know how this goes. All of the friends in my circle used to drink and smoke. However, they would completely hide when an adult came through. Even in front of my father who couldn't care less and would ask me why on earth they bothered to do that. And because of his attitude I never felt the great need to try these things. Because the guilty pleasure of hiding and doing stuff just wasn't there If we needed to, we could always try in front of him. And the funniest thing was the moms of the biggest drinkers/smokers would go around telling how everyone else was a drunkard and her son never touched anything stronger than milk. I often wondered if parents genuinely have such a blind spot when it comes to their kids or they just thought everyone else was innocent So if by yo yo India you mean the hypocrisy in which we do everything but pretend we don't and that it is a western influence, whether it is smoking, drinking or sex, then I agree Good for BK that he doesn't drink and good on his dad to ask people to stay off his son with Daaru bottles. He has a valid point. What is so great about giving a Champagne bottle?
