I think dhoni will soon give up test captaincy & retire from tests. He has generally been very good at home but very bad overseas. But I think he should be the captain till after aus tour becoz kohli & pujara both out of form so don't want a new captain in AUSTRALIA to be on the boiler straight away. This will be pujara's first intl trip to aus while we all know how the aussies love Mr. Kohli B-> I think dhoni will be made to take one for the team ( even tough he will have the title of worst captain overseas & some might say he deserved it) But this is just my view

I am saying so what if we lose 0-4 against Aussies under a new captain? We are still trying out a new captain. It can't get any worse than this. Plus there would be accountability.
Are you sure? If dhoni retires now there would be no seniors on the team ( except pisshant). Pujara, Kohli, Vijay are all noobs. Plus Kohli, pujara are out of form. Ideally they should be given easier assignments then tougher ones & then take it from there . Neither Kohli nor Pujara have any experience of captaining a test team you want them to start in AUSTRALIA :omg:

At least a new captain would ensure better team selections, batting orders, bowling changes, and field placements. It would do nothing to help fielding, catching, running between the wickets, batting ability and bowling ability. But at least there would be some improvements in some areas.

Excactly. The answer to undisputed chap's question. No one is looking for a tactical genius now. Just someone who keeps things simple and doesn't screw up. Anyway, the odds of 0-4 in Australia are very very high. You might as well try something. Its not like we have anything to lose.

Logically enough, when we think there is a sucessor ready. Or maybe now is a good time going into a easyish home series. Ashwin has been called for by some on the board. Why not.

Decisive steps are needed to stem the rot ..Take the Australian board's decisiveness when they sacked Mickey Arthur on the verge of an away Ashes series ..they lost but they found the mojo in the new open team environment ..A message needs to be sent that non-performance is unacceptable ..if Dhoni & Fletcher duo continue even for a minute , message to the team will be that closeness to board powercentre Srini mama matters the highest compare to performance on the ground ..Team culture is anyway in toss

But that's why shastri has been drafted in:giggle:

In my view Ashwin should take over we need a bowling captain and he should take over before WI series so he has some exp before getting 4-0 hammering in aus
