Bringing 'democracy' never works unless the people earn it and are prepared for it and have the mindset for it. You cannot 'give' someone democracy.
sounds like Churchill & India
How? Explain? How on earth does it sound like that?
not comparing ISIS fight to Indian independence nor you to Churchill ... comparing just the words in the first quote to the words Churchill mentioned before granting India the independence

Why a few 'elite's gathering in a social club denouncing ISIS and atrocities is not going to cut it. For a group that coerces others to believe the Islam is a ROP, there are not many people who are protesting at a grassroots level for others to hold their peace and tolerate the atrocities. What's beheading got to do with psescs ? Well, these are the poster boys for any voice against non-muslim fundamentalism, while the same can't be said about voices against muslim fundamentalism due to PCness.
C_R, I am genuinely unable to understand your PoV here. What do you want 'moderate' Muslims to do? And what is it supposed to achieve?

Now 43 UN peacekeepers taken captive in Syria. peacekeepers are mainly from Fiji and Phillipines. Though India has UN peacekeepers too currently in Syria. Several of the European countries withdrew their UN troops last year. Though these peacekeepers are not in Syria due to response to current crisis, they are part of a monitoring force dating back to 1970.

ISIS beheads American journalist Steven Sotloff Steven Sotloff was abducted last year while covering the conflict in Syria. (Reuters photo) RELATED BEIRUT: An internet video posted online on Tuesday purported to show the beheading of US journalist Steven Sotloff by the Islamic State group, which called it retribution for continued US airstrikes in Iraq. Sotloff, 31, who freelanced for Time and Foreign Policy magazines, had last been seen in Syrian in August 2013 until he appeared in a video released online last month by the Islamic State group that showed the beheading of fellow American journalist James Foley. READ ALSO: James Foley wrote this letter to his family after ISIS capture Dressed in an orange jumpsuit against the backdrop of an arid Syrian landscape, Sotloff was threatened in that video with death unless the US stopped airstrikes on the group in Iraq. In the video distributed on Tuesday and entitled "A Second Message to America," Sotloff appears in a similar jumpsuit before he was purportedly beheaded by an Islamic State fighter. The Associated Press could not immediately verify the video's authenticity. The SITE Intelligence Group, a US terrorism watchdog, first reported about the video's existence. The fighter who beheads Sotloff in the video called it retribution for Obama's continued airstrikes against the group in Iraq. "I'm back, Obama, and I'm back because of your arrogant foreign policy towards the Islamic State ... despite our serious warnings," the fighter said. At the end of the video, he threatened to kill a third captive, a Briton, David Cathorne Haines. Sotloff's mother had pleaded for his release last week in a video directed at the Islamic State group. READ ALSO: Mother of US reporter in Syria begs for his life Addressing the leader of the Islamic State group by name, Shirley Sotloff said in a video her son was "an innocent journalist" who shouldn't pay for US government actions in the Middle East over which he has no control. White House press secretary Josh Earnest said he wasn't immediately aware of the purported Sotloff video and wasn't in a position to confirm its authenticity. "This is something that the administration has obviously been watching very carefully," Earnest said. "Our thoughts and prayers first and foremost are with Mr. Sotloff and Mr. Sotloff's family and those who worked with him." A man who answered a phone listed in the name of Sotloff's sister hung up when called by the AP.

beheading is such a cruel act.. Hope USA takes out these ISIS bastards
But it is rather ironic, the US and Saudi Arabia are buddies and allies, considering Saudi Arabia is the only country in the world that officially endorses beheading of offenders, and put them on public display. This year Saudi government carried out 19 beheadings.

Just saw the video. CIA needs to pool all their resources together to find that British jihadi and give him slow painful death, help him meet his 72 male virgins. Feckin animals. RIP Sotloff. He didn't even flinch when the guy starting cutting him. Seems like he had already accepted his fate.

I was thinking about why do they agree to say those things when they know they will be killed a min later? Probably to save the pain they would have to go through if they dont , this way it is less pain to endure. What an awful place to be at...RIP. I wish something very bad happens to those animals.

I wish something very bad happens to those animals.[/quote'] the reason they say those things is because the difference is being beheaded with a single quick stroke of a sharp, weighed axe/sword versus beheading by a duller, weaker blade that requires multiple hacks. They will even tell you this and say the ones who are going to have their heads hacked off, wont be the ones on the video, so no one will know either. So what do you do ?

Don't know, it looked like he didn't move/flinch while getting beheaded. It very well seemed he knew he would be killed smoothly and shown to the ROW.

Beheadings intended to be done cleanly are often conducted such that the executioner tells the victim to keep still and victim usually does. Its not easy to chop off the human neck with one clean stroke, even if the blade is sharp and weighted. And if you miss, which can happen very easily if the victim moves his head or sways and you end up burying the axe in his/her back, thats just about the most gruesome way to go- being cleaved in half. So often, victims dont move when being beheaded, why would you want the guy who is going to kill you anyways, to take more than one swing and inflict more pain ?

This outfit seems to be the most cruel and gruesome encountered so far. They seem to want to scare away their opponents by filming these atrocious acts. On the contrary, this is going to make their opponents even more determined in their fight against them.
