Rayudu's strike rate is 66. Rohit's is 78. Rahane opening and Rohit playing in the middle order would make for a better balance IMO.
He has played barely around 12 ODIs. That's too small of a number to derive any conclusions with regards to his strike rate. He did very well under pressure in a game against Pakistan on a pitch which was tough for batting against some good bowlers when everyone else was not doing so well and helped put a good score on board. He has also done consistently well in A tours. He is not a flat track bully. He has got some mental toughness and ability to fight it out and also has decent technique and will get better as he plays more. I think he will do well if given a few chances. Its very important to not put too much importance to stats. They can be very misleading.

Hope Samson gets a chance somewhere in this series, but do not see any space for him in middle order, ATM, after Raina's exploits and Rahane did decently too. Only change can be Rahane replacing struggling Dhawan and Samson then in MO.

3rd ODI, Eng Vs Ind - Birmingham For India the equation is simple, they have two chances in the next two games to win the series and regain a little pride after their humiliating series defeat. I expect India to go unchanged. Would love to see Samson in for Dhawan (his career looks over outside the subcontinent) and Aaron for Mohit.
