LAKE SELIGER Russia (Reuters) - Russian President Vladimir Putin said on Friday Russia's armed forces, backed by its nuclear arsenal, were ready to meet any aggression, declaring at a pro-Kremlin youth camp that foreign states should understand: "It's best not to mess with us." Putin told the assembly, on the banks of a lake near Moscow, the Russian takeover of Crimea in March was essential to save a largely Russian-speaking population from Ukrainian government violence. He said continued fighting in eastern Ukraine, where pro-Russian separatists launched an uprising in April, was the result of a refusal by Kiev to negotiate. Ukraine, and Western governments, accuse Russia of sending troops and armor to back the separatists in a conflict that has already killed over 2,000 people. Russia denies the charge. "Russia is far from being involved in any large-scale conflicts," he said at the camp on the banks of Lake Seliger. "We don't want that and don't plan on it. But naturally, we should always be ready to repel any aggression towards Russia. "Russia's partners... should understand it's best not to mess with us," said Putin, dressed casually in a grey sweater and light blue jeans. "Thank God, I think no one is thinking of unleashing a large-scale conflict with Russia. I wonder what a republican will do in this kind of a scenario, i dont see Russia/China being contained together. Even for US that is insurmountable odds, unless the unspeakable 3rd happens.

Americans are real idiots in foreign policy because they have memories of a fish and behave like a very very clever fish- with lot of analysis and intelligence, but purely reactionary and no real thought to overall plan. All this conflict in Ukraine and America's 'pivot to the pacific' doing, is casting the Sino-Russian alliance in stone. Russia has resources, China has population that makes stuff. Russia supplies raw materials and makes a buck, China processes raw materials and sells it to the rest of the world. Ever since the Ukraine conflict happened, Russia announced a 30-40 year half a trillion dollar gas deal with China. So really, we should be more scared for India, SE Asia and eastern Europe than anyone else. A Russia that is an ally of China is very bad news for India because it compromises our 'proxy auto-veto of any major crap in the UN' and emboldens China to be a pain in the butt more. Same story for Eastern Europe- if Russia can get its crap to China for long term and for lots of money, it doesnt NEED Europe. If it doesn't need Europe, it will make Pakistan look like a little schoolgirl in comparison to what it will do to eastern Europe because well, Nato is messing with Russia. The Sino-Russian solidification is comming.

Agree with that ,I read an article by russian Retired general few years back he wrote russia never forgot the cold war ,while americans think this is new russia and can be friends all is forgotten.
