Mule Singh mismanaging fast bowlers. Why is there no in-your-face criticism by media?

I don't think we have cricket analysts doing indepth analysis of matches with tecnicalities anymore. Look at the writers who are writing cricket articles, most of them are players themselves. Match reports are written in drab ways. The days of in depth analysis and passionate reviews are gone. Too much cricket has killed it, there are usually some reports during IPL and world tournaments, thats it.

Guys like R.D and ofcourse SRT can comment without risking too much of a backlash but again they are not the type to ruffle any feathers. Dada is a little critical but then again he always has his favorites

David Lloyd and Strauss where just taking about Fletcher bringing in the philosophy of having real quick bowlers and no place for tundlers due to which likes of Woakes etc all striving to improve pace. I am sure the fact that Aaron and Yadav have been in the scheme of things is due to Fletcher's encouragement but the fact that they don't play consistently we know who is at fault.

Indian media is a joke. So much arrogance on Mr. Cools part and no one has the balls to call him out. Patil, Dhoni they all need to go. Shame is that Gavaskar and Dravid are sucking upto him. There is no shame.

The OP is wrong. Its not mismanaging as this gives impression of poor tactics are stupidity. It is the indian captain blatantly going out to try and make a player on his team perform poorly so he does not perform well and have to pick him. Its an indian captain going out of his way to destroy a players career to suit his sick agendas

Dhoni is a horrendous captain. Seriously who here would want to work for him. His management technique is just so retarded. He either ostracises you and undermines you if selected or simply never plays you eg. Yadav, Tiwary and many others Or he backs you to hilt irrespective of whether you perform or not eg, Ishant Sharma, Nohit, Jadeja

Umesh is a terrible ODI bowler. He has no control whatsoever. Average of over 40 and economy of 6+ in ODIs speaks for itself. Don't blame his poor performance on others.

Yes any fast bowler given one over spells would thrive. Just like he was 21 for 1 in 4 overs before he went for runs because of 1 over spell, one of which was in the 49th over :hysterical: I don't know why it is that difficult to understand that it is ok to do both, criticize his bad bowling for sure. However at the same time it is also ok to criticize Dhoni's handling of a young guy in the team. This is almost sabotaging his career. If he is selected in the team then give him a fair go, don't make it more difficult for him. That is the captain's job. I know most probably the selectors sent him over against Dhoni's wishes but for God's sake do not take it out on the poor guy

This is not the first time he has bowled poorly. How many teams would give chances to bowlers who have such poor figures in international cricket ?

He bowled well. In first 2 spells going really well, bowled WELL 1st spell got a wicket, was bowling high 80s, then mysteriously took off after only 3 overs. Brought back for another spell, in that over went for 3 and bowled high 80s by end of the over (hitting his straps), then taken off after that 1 good over!!! So bowled well but that was ass holes plan, if bowl well take him off, if bowl badly take him off. 3 spells of one over and you wonder why started to lose his mojo. Dhoni is a cancer. Are fans that blind to his sick games!

I edited the post and wrote some other things too. About why his poor performances has nothing to do with the point about how Dhoni uses him. His average are not exclusive from his treatment, he has played under no other captain Also his test strike rate is among the best in the world, so throwing the question right back at you. How many teams would not select a bowler with such great figures in tests and instead select him for ODIs?

Yes, I agree. He should have been selected for tests. In fact, he got a 5 wicket haul in Australia in a 4 day game recently and couldnt do much in One day games. But they selected him for the wrong format. He does have the ability to bowl wicket taking deliveries but can be wayward which won't cost too much in tests. Also, his pace goes down when he tries to bowl a defensive line. He is more suited to tests where he can bowl to his strengths.
