kubrickian Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 No point is Economy rate is the last thing you should look for in a Test. Genuine quicks can always be more expensive.. You have a bowler whose ER is 3.35 and strike rate is 67 and another one ER of 4.00 and strike rate is 46.. who would you pick? I personally feel Umesh has potential to do well in tests as well but he has very little chance of being effective if he is wayward in tests and bowls loose deliveries like he does in shorter formats. In fact, you have to be lot more accurate in tests as batsmen don't play loose shots and rarely give their wicket away. You have to prize their wicket out by bowing good deliveries consistently and maintaining the pressure and intensity. You need to be the absolute best to be a good bowler in tests. Don't keep mentioning his strike rate. He has played very few tests for that particular stat to have any significance. He bowled a good spell in Australia and against England at home from what I recall. Apart from that he has been inconsistent.
vvvslaxman Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Ok so wait you are saying dhoni goes state to state to select the players. Lol. That's the dumbest thing ever. Ok lets think why didnt we sack dhoni after aus tour kohli was like totally rocking it like settin the test cricket on fiyah yea. Or maybe sachin could have totally captained india yo. Ok but pujara definitaley yeah our next dravid yo. Such a mature cricketer yaa consistent like a boss yo. Bot he failed in england getting bowled on straighter balls totally lost his reflexes now totally moves like an old grandpa yo. Ok maybe rahane yaa. Totally next laxman yo. Lets make him captain yaa. What if he played just 10 tests yo. Totally will be oon next tour yo. Dominating johnson & co now. Any stool would have captained better than the charade Tony put up.. 3rd team selection made me puke. To top it all his keeping was shambolic. High school grade level keeping. Didn't even go for regulation catches. I guess those gigantic blunders escaped your eyes. Anyone with self respect would have stepped down as captain. His bowling rotation, team selection, field placing, weird instructions to bowlers.. were all downright clownish. At the end of the day numbers don't lie. 5 mega whoppings in a row under his captaincy with different set of players.

Oh so Dhoni was setting the world on fire when he was elected captain yo If every team waited for players to set world on fire before changing captain yo, then no team would ever change captain yo. Retarted thinking yo

Dhoni's crass comment about Umesh after one match clearly indicates that he doesn't have him in his plans. If Umesh is in his plans he would have gotten a fairly long run like Rohit/Ishant sharma. That is the problem here. He did not use him in Tests both in SA and NZ and he was dropped. Bhuvaneswar was not used either. He picked Bhuvan only when he was forced to pick. There is clear evidence of bias in who he wants who he doesn't. Unter utilization of Binny despite Dhoni picked him as 5th bowling option was a stellar example. He just has to quit test cricket as captain.

JaFanatic Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Ashwin is bad ground fielder but atleast takes catches.Mishra drops even dollies. both are about equal in batting. I'd rather try a young leggie like Karn now tbh Wont complain just that people are too harsh on him. To me he is the first choice spinner for odis

Retarted thinking yo Lo another one. Dhoni had already won t20 wc before beconing captain. In that tournament alone he had shown enough maturity. Sachin & other seniors were impressed by him to openly advocate him as captain. His predessors have shown zero maturity or not even enough to be in the team.

In asia cup 2014 or when kohli won rcb the ipl.
vvvslaxman Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 When did you watch others captain better then dhoni ? In asia cup 2014 or when kohli won rcb the ipl. I am talking about Tests. He can be captain of Pyjama game where batting takes care of his foolish tactics.
undisputed chap Posted September 18, 2014 Author Posted September 18, 2014 I am talking about Tests. He can be captain of Pyjama game where batting takes care of his foolish tactics. Lol kohli doesnt even have the attention span. Day dreams during fielding & dropping dollies lobbed at him. You think he can captain a test side ? That too overseas.
vvvslaxman Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Lol kohli doesnt even have the attention span. Day dreams during fielding & dropping dollies lobbed at him. You think he can captain a test side ? That too overseas. I said stool.. forget about players. Dhoni is that bad.
velu Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 i think ICFers are right , Dhoni is responsible for umeshs poor form.. by not picking or benching him , dhoni shackled his kanpidance
maniac Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 TBH Umesh has not been impressive in the last few games i saw him and that includes Bangladesh ODI's,England and CLT20. But I will still back him in tests,Definetely needs to be ahead of Pankaj Singh,Kulkarni,Mohit Sharma etc in the pecking order for sure.
CSK Fan Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 Lo another one. Dhoni had already won t20 wc before beconing captain. In that tournament alone he had shown enough maturity. Sachin & other seniors were impressed by him to openly advocate him as captain. His predessors have shown zero maturity or not even enough to be in the team. Eh, how did Dhoni became the T20 captain then? And why was his test form not considered when being made test captain? What was Dhoni's overseas records then and why do we need to look at performances of Pujara, Kohli based on one overseas tour when this was not considered for Dhoni? So many questions, so little answers And your Asia cup example, Dhoni has lost many Asia cups too so really don't understand your point on judging Kohli based on one last over loss when India even lost to Bangladesh in Asia cup under Dhoni
CSK Fan Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 On par with lahorcs yo Pretty much yo. And might not be a co-incidence yo
King Tendulkar Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 The sad thing is, that these same losers ripping in to Yadav. Would if dhoni played him for 3 years non stop where he continued to suck would rush to his defence and eulogise yadav. Sad days
King Tendulkar Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 As for odis. Well dhonis one over spells for him don't help!
maniac Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 The sad thing is, that these same losers ripping in to Yadav. Would if dhoni played him for 3 years non stop where he continued to suck would rush to his defence and eulogise yadav. Sad days Dude I have been a big supporter of umesh as well and I know this is a troll thread but from the last few outings umesh has certainly not helped his cause and yes selectors are partly to blame for playing him in a format he is not suited for. I always rated umesh over Aaron as well but here is the deal, umesh has looked ordinary in the last few loi outings he has had and I am not even basing this on the tamasha game. Dhonis favoritism and selectors incompetence has totally destroyed him and now we are at a stage where umesh has regressed and dhoni fans are saying he is right. Yes umesh looks ordinary now but dhoni is to blame for what has happened....but having said that slowly losing hope for him and for that at least umesh is to be blamed.
CSK Fan Posted September 18, 2014 Posted September 18, 2014 ^^^ Yep, you give a player a million chances. You discourage another right from day 1. Jadeja and Umesh as examples. And Dhoni fans will say he is proved right
