Repercussions of WI pullout - we are set for a major ass-whooping in OZ land?

we should have played 3 test matches against windies before going to the OZ tour. Yeah sure, our slow, low, fast bowling-impotent wickets are nothing like the virile bouncy tracks down under. But some practice is better than no practice. It would have been a good opportunity for Pujara, Kohli, Rahane, openers and batting legend Rohit Sharma to regroup and get some confidence before the tour. But now thats gone. we will anyway lose against Aussies. But now I think, we have been set for total devastation? your thoughts?

I'm not actually convinced by that tbh. If Johnson goes off the boil, as he has done in the past, the Aussies are still pretty mediocre. I cannot see India winning the series, but I can see them putting up a bit of a fight - 1-3 maybe? It will be interesting to see how they do in the series against Pakistan - clearly they can't play spin as the warm up game showed but apparently they also failed against reverse swing. One change I would personally make for Aussie pitches is to substitute Kumar for Yadav who I think would exploit bounce more. It would be very harsh on Kumar who was exceptional in England, but what I saw of him was a very very good conventional swing bowler but he didn't do so much with the old ball.

To win or even draw a match, our batting has to click and we have no idea how that will go this time. We made Jordan, Woakes and Moeen Ali legends. Even if Johnson is off the boil, we still would have to deal with Harris and Siddle. I am hoping for the best but logic wise (as of now), 0-4 is the only conclusion.

In Australia it all patience if ours bats display similar patience SA they did in as then we might do better than what we did in England. Runs are not easy to come by with the 8-2 field unless you are patient.

We have done well against steyn and morkel. We should that worried against Johnson also we should use experience in ipl against him.

No amount of practice on Indian pitches will make us better equipped for Aus conditions. It will be a completely different ball game in Aus. Just have to adjust to the conditions as best as you can and try to do well.

Hope BCCI/CA arranged some practice matches in Aus prior to Tests...I know they did not help much earlier but we usually get completely blown away in first Test if there is no practice match

Quite the opposite in fact. Beating WI 3-0 by an innings would've inflated egos of these 'superstar' gen. They'd have gone to Aus thinking its going to be an even contest before Johnson and co. demolish them to smithereens
