sticky wicket Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Furious over the alleged rape of his 14-year-old daughter by a 45-year-old married man, the father called the man to his house on Friday night, treated him to dinner and then tortured him to death, police said. He then went to the police station, surrendered himself and gave police a detailed account on how he tortured and murdered the man. The 36-year-old reportedly burned the man’s genitals using heated tongs and then strangled him to death. The incident was reported from Northeast Delhi’s Khajuri Khas area on Saturday. Based on the man’s statement, police said the deceased, a medicine supplier, had allegedly raped the man’s minor daughter two months ago. The father did not approach police fearing “a bad name for his daughterâ€. “The father called the medicine supplier over to his house saying he wanted to discuss some issue. He served him dinner. After the meal, the father overpowered the man and tied him to a chair. He got heated tongs and burned the supplier’s genitals before strangling him to death. He came to the police station and surrendered himself,†an officer said. The father reportedly gave police a detailed account of how he tortured the man to death. “Based on his statement, we sent a team to the spot and recovered the body. It has been sent for a post-mortem examination and his family has been informed. A case of murder has been registered and the 36-year-old man was arrested,†the officer said. In his statement, the man told police that two months ago, while he was away at his shop in the area, the medicine supplier had come calling at his house. On finding the minor girl alone at home, he allegedly raped her. He threatened the girl with dire consequences if she spoke about the incident to anyone. Police said the girl, however, told her father about it the same day. The man also told police that he did not approach them as he feared that neighbours and relatives would blame his daughter for the incident. Police said the father had been planning the murder since the day he found out about his daughter’s alleged rape. Texy Posted November 2, 2014 Posted November 2, 2014 Biggest villain in these type of stories are those jobless relatives and neighbors in Indian society whose sole job is to shame the victim and create fear among future victims from reporting the crime as that will bring "shame" to the family. Those relatives and neighbors are the biggest culprit forcing victims to be quiet and letting the rapists free of any punishment. Think of how many victims and their families out there never reported the crime thinking these POS relatives and neighbors would blame the girl for letting it happen and create condescending rumors. Think of how many abused spouses never filed for divorce due to this very shame, choosing to sacrifice their own happiness and letting their abusive spouses get away with these crimes.

This broke my heart. I am with the father though I wish he never surrendered. Hope court looks at the bigger picture as him and his daughter have already been through hell

The father of the girl killed him thinking he had not right to be alive. That is one part of the story but some people here finding torturing before death a good thing?

He's not a Hero but I think it's good that he stood up for his family. Maybe he went a step further than he should have. Should not take justice in your hands...

It wasn't something done on the spur of the moment to save his daughter from the sexual assault. It was a planned murder done in cold blood, and to top it the deceased was tortured. Vengeance should never be a substitute for justice. My sympathies lie with him, but I'd still not condone his act.

If one does not have faith in swiftness in courts in India, he would buy a tamancha or a Katta or whatever they call it, and simply kill the guy. I would make no comment on that....neither a positive comment nor a negative comment. I would always condemn what the father has done in this case

But to be honest I would have done this even if we were somewhere in Sweden or USA.

Agree that people have grey stuff in them, I'd even support this if done on the spur of moment, like being enraged after spotting the perpetrator on the act and killing him in a fit of rage. But when you plan something like this for a month, it becomes a cold, calculated murder done to seek vengeance, not justice. It's human tendency, yes, but there's nothing heroic about that. It's more courageous to restrain yourself and do the right thing.

I on the other would have made sure that I tortured him enough that the rapist would rather prefer given death punishment by courts.

If the story is correct and the guy did commit rape then father did the right thing.. but he could have done more secretively.. like Dexter Morgan...

Since you can only understand through examples of crimes involving your family, answer this - If the rapist in OP was your father, your brother or your son, would you still hail the man who tortured him and then killed him as a hero?
