Number Posted January 10, 2015 Posted January 10, 2015 Its okay. He played well in the first innings at least with Ashwin. Otherwise we know how our lower order crumbles for 15-20 runs. In the 2nd innings ball kept quite low.

I find this whole "keeper should only keep" a 1980s kind of argument. In today's age, keepers MUST be able to bat. And they shouldn't be batting after the bowlers. They should be able to bat at 7. And it's not like Saha is an out of this world outstanding keeper either. As we saw in the last match, he fluffs quite a bit too. I don't mind him getting another series, but the problem now is as far as batting is concerned since the next few series are home series, even if he bats well, there is nothing to say that he will be able to bat reasonably away from home. Quite frankly, his batting in first innings looks decent and just needs to concentrate a bit more after getting a start. But his second innings batting is a disaster!

Terrible match as a keeper and equally bad as a batsman. Saha kept well in the first test except for a missed stumping. Funny how one bad match makes you question his abilities though his work in the other test is conveniently ignored. He should be given more chances and should certainly not deserve his place if his performances mirror those of the last test.

I havent watched all matches he has played but he's definitely a much better keeper than what he showed in the last match. Deserves a fair run before being consigned to the dust bin. Batting has not been utterly gash either. We should give him atleast two home series.

Especially when it has mattered the most. He has not even shown some nerves to hang in at one end in second innings of Tests. Now, some people here made me believe that Saha's keeping is magical and that he should deserve a place in the team solely based on that. From what I saw, that is not the case. Just like other regular keepers, he misses opportunities too. Nothing wrong with that as long as he compensate it with his batting. I have already said that I don't really mind giving him some chances in the next few home series. But the real test for him will come on our next away tour (if he is still picked then). I will be very happy if he does indeed succeed.

His batting has more IMPACT and he is one of the mainstays of MP batting lineup ..regularly opening the batting in 4-days ..I have a feeling that he will be a Matt PRior/Jos Buttler kind of impact as a W/K batsman

Hes gritty on flat Indian pitches which we may not need once the batting order settles down . He does not have the technique to survive overseas . I would take Ojha over him
