India's Varun Aaron makes early pace impression Adelaide: Attendees at Glenelg's Gliderol Stadium on Monday, accustomed to seeing Indian pacemen who trouble with guile rather than speed, were shocked from that stereotype by the performance of a strongly built right-armer named Varun Aaron. The 25-year-old was the most expensive of India's bowlers in the inexperienced Cricket Australia XI's innings of 219 but was also the most dangerous and thrilling to watch. Longtime Indian Premier League support coach Trent Woodhill, who is also the assistant coach of Victoria, had the same reaction to seeing Aaron for the first time. It occurred in early 2011 at a training camp for Delhi Daredevils, where the then unknown Aaron was bowling in tandem with Umesh Yadav, a lively paceman who debuted in India's past visit to Australia. "I was going 'Bloody hell, is it just me and my jetlag or are these guys the real deal, really quick?' ... the ball was just getting through [to the wicketkeeper], and normally in India it dies but his kept just going up and up and up," Woodhill said. Aaron made an impact in his first three spells. In his first he dispatched captain Ashton Turner and Nick Stevens within three deliveries, the latter from firing a delivery through the Queenslander's defences. In his second he elicited what should have been a regulation first-slip catch from the host's most impressive batsman, Kelvin Smith, which was dropped by Ravi Ashwin. In his third he had young South Australian Alex Gregory caught behind, one of five catches for wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha. Aaron's pace remained conspicuously higher than Mohammed Shami and swing-bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar, with most of the early boundaries off his bowling coming from edges through or over the slips cordon. His pace dropped in his fourth spell, but given he had arrived in Australia less than 48 hours beforehand it was understandable that his endurance was not at its best. Carters said his experience facing Aaron in the emerging players tournament was good preparation for their latest duel. "I knew he was going to be pretty quick, from having faced him a few years ago, and he certainly followed through with that," Carters said. "He bowled some pretty quick bumpers, did a little bit of damage to our middle order, but I thought at times we played him well." The NSW wicketkeeper-batsman, asked about the prospect of Aaron being selected against Australia in Brisbane, replied: "On a fast wicket, he'd definitely be a handful if he plays. You could definitely expect some short stuff." Woodhill, whose IPL move from Delhi to Bangalore was matched by Aaron, argued that only Mitch Johnson was likely to bowl faster in this looming series. "I'm really looking forward to seeing him bowl at the Gabba because he hits the seam as well. It's not like he just bowls quick with a scrambled seam," Woodhill said. "I'd be disappointed if Varun is not bowling in the mid-to-high 140s in this Test match." Woodhill predicted Aaron would be treated favourably by Australian crowds – but said even if he was barracked against in Brisbane and beyond he would not be daunted by it, nor would his teammates. "The difference with this young team, especially led by such an impressive individual in Virat Kohli, is these guys are [focused on] getting their own games in order rather than worrying about Australian crowds and the Australian team," he said. "They'll be confident in their own ability. They've had to work exceptionally hard in a nation of a billion people to get in the team, and what's changed now is that they're not [just] looking for opposition respect. They're looking to dominate opposition teams."

The 2nd warm up match against AustraliaXI is cancelled. Absolutely tragic news of Hughes passing away and it was indeed a correct decision. No sports is bigger than human life. But this means India will face Australian team without much practice in a week's time in one of the fastest tracks in the world.

I think they will cancel the Brisbane Test (quite sure - out of respect for Phil Hughes), and since these days times are tight, they wont have time to alter the tour, they willl make it a 3-Tests series. Instead of Brisbane Test - they should give India a warmup match. And then 3-Tests series will continue?

I am pretty sure that the series will be played as per the schedule..both boards will agree to that however I think that the test match should be delayed by a week.India should get to play a practice match in the next week
