No point picking 3 spinners when only one will play. I think they might pick a seam-bowling allrounder if they are hell-bent on picking an all-rounder. (I can see a name in the list too :hmmm:) 8 batsmen (including Dhoni), 5 pacers, 2 spinners is the way to go.
Two spinners will play with 3 pacers.

No way we'll go with 4 pacers or 7 batsmen.
7 batsmen, 1 spinner, 3 pacers. But yeah, in the 2012 CB Series, we did play 2 spinners in every match. :hmmm: We'll lose anyway. :beee:

Surely you can't be serious taking more than 2 spinners...you realise the World Cup is in Australia right? The pitches won't spin. You can make do with Jadeja/Ashwin as spinners. I mean Australia will have the Fail Show (Maxwell) as our 'spinner' with Steve Smith bowling part time party pies.

yes but we don't have a single fast-bowling all rounder

Aussies are going with Maxwell becoz they don't have any good spinner .They went for the 2011 WC without any proper spinner and 4 fast bowlers too Whether we go in with 1 or 2 spinner will probably be decided by how they perform in cb series .We did win the CB series finals 08 by playing 2 spinners .

Won't say this often but Kudos to the selectors and BCCI to give atleast the core group of the 30 probables a decent exposure before the WC :nice:

This is not too bad of a pool.... let us get over the fascination with Zak/Nehra... those guys have not played international cricket for a while and they are not anywhere near their peak. The quick bowlers picked are going to be the key along with our experienced middle-order batters. If Kohli, Dhobi, Rahane, Raina, etc can show good form then we are always in with a chance (anything from the openers would be a bonus in Aussie conditions). I'm always hopeful during a world cup so regardless of what our team looks like on paper i hope that we win! My top 4 contenders this time are Aus, SAF, India, and NZ

World cup is long tournament spin will definitely come to later part of the tournament like it did in champions trophy in England.

Yes, and the 7th batsman will be Jadeja... The spinner could be Ash or Axar based on conditions and performance... So effectively, 2 spinners + 3 pacers...

Lol! You realise spinners have done well in England right before? Australian conditions suit leg spinners or big turners. Pie chucking off spinners on flat, hard and bouncy pitches...good luck. There is a good reason we don't bother with spinners in 50 over cricket- you can get by with a Maxwell type. Jadeja and some overs from Raina is plenty. You need quicks.
