The asking rate is under 4 and there are no real demons in the pitch. The Aussie pace battery are bowling tomorrow after less than a days rest, they will tire. If India attacks Clarke will succumb by going defensive. 4 an over is not impossible. But I don't think the Aussies are brave enough to declare, Clarke might look for a 450 run lead to feel safe. Frustrate the bowlers by not giving up wickets. This used to be a common strategy in the past, but the infiltration of T20s have robbed the batsmen of enough patience to grind out test draws.

Just get in without the target in your head and take make a decision, like Zep said at the Tea or post it.

Although I do agree with this thread. India should be positive. Playing for draw will bring more harm & take the team to defeat much much faster (maybe before tea). Play positive...some of the batsman should look to rectify 1st innings mistake & score their 100. Take Lyon out of the equation & more importantly let Australia look for draw.

On this pitch, you would have to play really poorly to get out cheaply, even on the 5th day. Play positive cricket, play your natural game. That is the only way to earn a draw. If you switch on the ultra defensive mode, they will have fielder around your bat all the time. It creates even more pressure. If you score a few runs and manage to get a decent partnership going they would be forced to be a little more defensive.

All the pessimists on this thread, we are losing this right? SO WHAT IS WRONG IN DYING TRYING ?? Should we meekly surrender to Lyon trying to survive 98 overs and getting bowled out in two and a half sessions? If we go for it, these things will happen: 1) Aussie bowlers especially Lyon / Johnson (Vijay to Lyon in first inngs) will struggle to dominate us as they won't be allowed to settle. This will be a massive boost and the Aussies can wilt under pressure (atleast they can commit a few mistakes and we can sneak a draw). 2) Mental boost for the coming matches. Clarke will from now on think twice before declaring as he would know that we will go at the target no matter how pathetic our batting is . 3) As we have seen in the 1st inns, runs will come only when we are positive. 4) Who knows, test cricket is highly unpredictable. We won Adelaide 2003 when for the first two days it seemed we will lose, for the next two, it was all but a draw.

One more hour yesterday could have done wonders for India but then scoring 400+ is also not too bad. Take it session by session but I dont really see any chance of India winning this one.
