Mysterious 'unrest' in Indian dressing room at the Gabba was a Kohli-Dhawan fight

This was in reaction to watching Virat Kohli walk out to bat instead of the overnight batsman Shikhar Dhawan on day 4 of the Gabba Test. It took everyone by surprise and for around 30 minutes no one quite knew what was happening. The BCCI took it's time issuing a press release and by then, Kohli was back in the hut. The Australians, especially Shane Watson, bowled well at Kohli and he never settled in. But the Indian vice-captain seemed distant, not focussed and now, as a report in the Hindustan Times says: he was very angry too. Immediately, after Dhawan I was into the nets, so I couldn't follow up. Then, with just 5-7 minutes, left for the start of the day, we learnt that Dhawan would not be able to go in and that is when we told Kohli to bat." The short notice could not have made things easier for Kohli or for the batsman to follow and that was in evidence as the Indian batting collapsed yet again. :omg:

Not a good sign from some one who is expected to become skipper soon. He comes 1 down...he should be ready with the openers.Just making excuses for his unprofessional behavior. As for Dhawan...it is more likely that he did not report the pain because of his macho act,probably didn't want to look like wuss with tattoos and THE MOONCH.....but realized too late it would be difficult for him to bat. Either ways ...both acted stupid ...with kohli acting more so......considering he was skipper in the previous match.

I am a big kohli fan still i would blame Kohli for that.... i was in such a situation once ..the opener backed out due to some health reasons and i was told to pad up when then oponents were already on the field- yes i was a bit surprised but i was quite happy too....i scored close to 50 runs in that match. i bet its the mental frame of mind...is it johnson caused unrest , yes he is pacy but these folks face aaron and Umesh in practice pitches.. so i bet they shudnt be upset in going n playing from he first ball. dhwan cud have gone and got out in the first 3 balls too.. i beleive it is quite craz that kohli lost his cool. if our future captain looses cool so much then is it better to have raina as captain and play him instead of a aggressive captain who fights at the drop of a hat.

He talks too much about how he has matured.......maturity is best seen at times of crunch situations and he failed.

His off pitch attitude has always been suspect.I suspect he was at his best behavior as the captain in waiting ...but things might not be same when he becomes real captain. He talks too much about how he has matured.......maturity is best seen at times of crunch situations and he failed.

You have examples of his suspect off field issues? I'm not as big a fan of VK the test batter as some others. But I never noticed anything wrong with his attitude prior to this. Not off field attitude, at least.

Why would kohli think Dhawan faked his injury and Chickened out ? does this happen a lot in the team ? He seems to have a very low opinion of his teammate.

Seen him abusing bowlers(muttering and making faces) and fielders earlier when they got hit or mis fielded....in Bangladesh....not since his bad last form .He may be trying to improve...but he is a volatile character.Not to forget his famous finger.
