Number Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 Dhawan - Not reliable at all. Rohit - Dhawan is more reliable than him. Rahane - Hasn't done much in ODIs. Kohli - Very good. Will carry the responsibility of top-middle order. Rayudu - Mostly won't be in the XI, but I think we could have had better back up. Dhoni - Good. But mostly a lower order bat so very limited. Raina - I think he has the most important role to play. If he clicks we'll get into good position often. He has the capability of building the innings and can also accelerate in the end. But big question mark whether he can find it on Aus pitches. This batting line up looks sort of very unproven. A lot of it is in comparison of 2011 line up where we had almost every spot firmly covered(except no. 7 Raina/Yusuf). The major difference is, lack of a batsmen around whom innings can be built till 37-38 overs. Except Kohli I don't see many. On a positive, with Ashwin and Bhuvi we'll be batting quite deep.

Tri series will give us a good idea :nice: As far Rahane, he will carry his confidence from test series into WC and he will do well under pressure too.

Cricketics Posted January 11, 2015 Posted January 11, 2015 The trio of KOHLI-RAINA-Dhoni is a really strong one. Any team would love to have such trio. We have three of the best finishers in the world in one line up. There is everything positive about this line up. And Rohit has been in brilliant form of late. Dhawan if he can continue to give decent starts with Rohit, I am sure even Rahane will do good. I am excited about this line up especially when I read Kohli-Raina-Dhoni together. These are three of the best current odi players who have actually performed consistently for a while now and can play at any order and in any situation.

Tri-series will show if Raina is in form, hope we have not undermined his momentum with the two ducks in the Test match! Needless Test selection. Nohit - Not much hopes in Aus, inconsistent fellow.

But on another note, I think a guy like Ashwin (who is a very bad ODI batsman in general) will be more effective in outside Asia pitches than in Asia. He looked way more threatening in NZ than he ever was in India (ODIs). Jaddu is solid. When he clicks, he clicks big time.

Batting lineup looks odd when rohit opens Rahane, Dhawan should open, they did really well in England and almost won the game by themselves. These kinda guys win you a world cup. Rohit can play at 4 regardless of rayudu, as long as openers are set with kohli. Dhoni at 6, jadeja/axar take a spot, then either ashwin/binny and then 3 pacers.
