Not including Varun Aaron for world cup is a costly mistake

Aren't you getting a bit big for your shoes? India only has 1 more world trophy. And up till the champions trophy in 2013 Pakistan had made it to the semi-final in like 6 consecutive ICC tournaments' date=' more than any team.[/quote'] Let India figure out ways and theories to what works best for them , a number 7 ranked team in tests and ODIs for almost 90 percent of its existence is surely not good enough for a country like India with the passion and resources for the game ,time to show improvement don't you think , would be healthy for the other test playing nations if India starts providing a challenge, we should all be glad :icflove:

He should have been included. Would have been a wicket taking option in the middle overs. Even players like Milne and Cummins are expensive but they are there for the WC. He should have at least been the next in line but the selectors have chosen a player like Kulkarni:--D Its like the selectors have no plans for considering him in the ODI setting. Cant understand the reasoning behind this. Strike bowlers always have a role in ODIs
Milne has an econ rate of 5...Aaron has an econ of 6.6 if Milne is expensive than Aaron is priceless.

Milne has a lower economy rate but has also played relatively more matches than Aaron. Cummins has a an ecr of around 5.8. Also Milne is competing with guys like Henry who missed the bus. Cummins is obviously competing with much superior Aus reserve bowlers than India. Aaron on the other hand has been ignored for players like Binny, kulkarni, Mohit.

In one dayers you need to think on feet. Mixing of slower ones, bouncers, wide yorkers.. with reasonable accuracy and thinking is essential. Sprayguns are the worst to have in one dayers. Yadav a certified spray gun. Aarpn after first match did not live upto his hype.. 6.24, 9.44, 6.00. 8.2, 7.42 Economy rate of Aaron this year.

Read my siggy to see the chasm between India and Pakistan as far as performances in ICC tourneys are concerned. Be it World Cup, Champions Trophy or even Asia Cup we have more than twice the titles Pakistan has. In shorter format except Australia, no other team comes close to India as far as global titles are concerned. Once again check my siggy and in case you don't believe me check from other sources but the fact remains India has consistently outperformed Pakistan on a big stage.

In FC cricket many average pace bowlers are doing well nowadays' date=' most pitches have 4 mm grass on them.He became sandeep marshall sharma.[/quote'] If that's the case why not Aaron and Umesh? how come they have crappy averages in domestic cricket? Sandeep Sharma has consistently averaged in low 20s since his u-19 days, i.e. for a good 4-5 years. If he doesn't deserve a chance even now then what exactly is he supposed to do?

Similarly it also applies for Praveen kumar. He only played 2 matches in CB series 2008' date=' and performed well in finals. He was found out in CB series in 2012, and was dropped after his mediocre performance. It was Ishant sharma and his pace and intimidation that actually helped India to reach final in CB series 2008.[/quote'] And batting of SRT and GG. Ishant was a revelation in that series.

PK took 10 wkts in that series averaging below 20 IIRC and was outstanding in the finals. Smilarly he cleaned up SL in Asia Cup final and was consistnt throughout. Check the stats and you will see how PK's performance is not even in the same ballpark as Umesh Yadav's or Aaron's in any tourney. PK was instrumental in winning us 2 tourneys which I don't think we will ever see Yadav & Aaron boast of. You want to poke fun at PK' date=' go ahead but that doesn't change the fact PK has done more for the Indian team than Aaron & Yadav combined, and he averages lower than both of those "phaaaast" bowlers in every format as well.[/quote'] As far as I know PK averages 36 in ODI cricket with SR of 42. Aaron has a marginally higher average of 38 but better SR and has only played 9 games. Umesh has a marginally better average than PK at 35, SR of 36. Certainly better stats than PK. Also, these two have far more potential to become match winners.

Yadav has been around for more than 4 years with his second tour of Australia! If you're still hoping for the "potential" to result in anything you may as well go bring Irfan Pathan back as well. How long are we supposed to wait for this so called "potential" to translate in results? And shall we tell the other FC performers "Hold on. Wait. Let's give Umesh Lillee Yadav and Varun Thomson Aaron another 5 years". You can compare these jokers to PK all you want but the fact is PK was instrumental in winning us two tourneys.

Couldn't have put it better. It's the performance and stats that should be the factor in selection and nothing else. Yes take a punt on a faster bowlr if the averages are in the same ballpark such as 25 compared to 22 but picking a pacer averaging 37 over someone averaging 22 with the ball? That's crazy and we saw the results in away Tests over the last year.
I already told you don't take aaron's stats as a whole because before last year he was struggling with injuries and barely played two matches in a row in FC. He played 9-10 FC matches in 3 years, 2008-2011, because he was plagued with injuries then He missed next 2 years too due to injury and a surgery he underwent. Then he played a full season and averaged 20. Also, he doesn't get to bowl in bowling friendly conditions like Sandeep. Take a look at what Sandeep did on a flat track against Gujarat.

Umesh also was instrumental in CT. Was best fast bowler from both sides in the last ODI series he played. It is you who are hell bent on comparing stats. I did the same. For you, stats are everything. Regarding Irfan, he has never been fit to play even domestic since 2 years let alone international. Sane thing with PK who has barely played any domestic since 2011. Also, our pacers mature late, Zak took 6 -7 years to come good.

You slice and dice any which way you want, Aaron doesn't deserve to be in the Indian team. If Sandeep has performed in "bowler friendly" conditions, that's more of a reason for him to be selected for Aus/Eng/SA tours as he knows how to make use of helpful tracks. He already showed during u-19 WC that he can do that, and we all saw what Aaron & Yadav did in the Test series where they couldn't even bowl line & length for a spell, forget troubling the batsmen. You may wait for their "potential" to be fulfilled but it's time they get sent to FC cricket and their spots be given to domestic performers.

And as we speak Gurinder Sandhu from u-19 WC, where Sandeep was one of the bowlers of the tournament, makes his Aus debut... while Sandeep looks on from India despite performing at every level.

Once, Umesh got to bowl at Lahli on greentop, he skitteled Haryana for 55, taking 5/17. Also Umesh averaged 25 in FC when he was selected for India despite bowling mostly in flat pitches.

You think Sandeep would have been selected if he was an Australian.

If Sandeep was an Australian and averaged 22 in domestic cricket he would definitely have gotten a call up. I would take a midget any day over the lumbering bufoons who go at 5 rpo in Tests.
