Only problem is their ability to play under pressure, there will always be question mark over that issue. Finally I have reconciled to the fact that we aren't winning this event. We must make sure our record against padosis is intact and we make it to semis before we run into any of these 3 teams.

These SA batsmen do struggle against good fast bowling. Hazlewood made them hope all over the crease, especially, Amla never does well whenever there is good bowling.

I'd rather they make a group stage exit (of course keeping the streak intact against pakistan) so that we can drop all the useless buggers.
Sid_SuhaiL Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Their lower middle order is weak , throughout the AUS ODIs & even in the first match of this WI series it was a problem . If Amla, AB , Faf fall early in a KO game it'll be big trobule for them.

SA favourites in 99 - 1 run needed...Donald forgot run SA 2nd fav in 03 - Miscalculated the DL score :facepalm: SA 2nd fav in 07 - Hayden blown them in semis (was expected) :agree: SA 2nd fav in 11 - Heavy fav against Kiwis in semis but Southee blown them :whine: SA favourite again in 15 - whats in store this time? :nervous:

Kalia_Test Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 If the format was league type where each team plays the other ( with points for wins and bonus point mechanism) and team with most points wins the WC, SA will comfortably win it. However, all 8 top teams can beat other team on a given day ( with no team more than >60% favorite against any other ) and with 3 KO games, no team can be ruled out. They will surely be one of the more fancied teams but no way are they overwhelming favorites.

It is a weak spot though and it is why they may have issues if ABDV goes early.

As a team SA is better than Aussies but due to home conditions I agree with you Australia will not be far behind from Saffers. Might be joint favourites as you said. Mind you, except India no other home team won the WC yet. Can Aussies do it??
