Temujin Khaghan Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Boobs and praveen kumar bowled good lengths in England, but they are innocuous in non swinging conditions due to lack of bounce or pace. 120kmph even on good lengths is utter tripe. asif use to seam the ball off the pitch at 125-130. also he was tall. his only weakness was lack of pace. swing, seam, accuracy all boxes ticked i hear holding told the indian bowlers to learn the art of seam bowling which should be plan-B in non swinging conditions. i really admire anderson because he can reverse swing with all 3 - dukes, kookkaburra and SG thats smtg shami has to learn.

Praveen bowled well in Australia CB series too. He got prodigious bounce due to his action.
express bowling Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 There are so many people who seem to miss the steep bounce that McGrath got from good length. He also got seam movement. These two aspects helped McGrath as much as his accuracy did. A short pacer bowling accurately at 125 k, without much movement , won't really have the same effect.

We have to get rid of all the mdigets. Umesh, Bhuvan, Shami, Aaron and include guys like Pankaj,MS Gony.
vvvslaxman Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Whatever happened to Bomrah. Before they start picking his awkward action world cup will be over.
MK55 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 We have to get rid of all the mdigets. Umesh' date=' Bhuvan, Shami, Aaron and include guys like Pankaj,MS Gony.[/quote'] We cant call Umesh, Aaron, BK midgets for their height. Shami is quite short but the other guys are OK. Yes most of us are 6 feet these days but 5-10/11 does not fall in the midget category. Dale Steyn is 1.79 viz is like 5-10/11.
Cricketics Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 There is lot of truth and frustration in what Gavaskar is saying. And I feel for him. Someone who played cricket for India for a long long time and was a master at what he did, it's fine to vent your frustration on how the same team he played for, hasn't learned a thing or got better in certain department. Kudos to him for saying it out loud. It's fine to blow a horn on this thing. Our bowlers deserve this.
rkt.india Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Praveen bowled well in Australia CB series too. He got prodigious bounce due to his action. No can swing the ball until there is swing available.

Marshall was considered to be a short bowler even in that era. He was around 5'10".
vvvslaxman Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 No can swing the ball until there is swing available. Starc had plenty of swing.. none of our bowlers could repeat that even under lights.
vvvslaxman Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 If you are short around 5'10"' date=' [b']you need to have pace and decent accuracy. Which they don't have. Mohammad Aamer even at an age of 20 had more accuracy than lot of our bowlers at 25 to 27.

Marshall was considered to be a short bowler even in that era. He was around 5'10". Obviously the taller you are the better. But you also need to have other elements in addition to that height. A 6 3' bowler bowling at 125k is not going to be that effective.

Marshall was considered to be a short bowler even in that era. He was around 5'10". Yes, atleast 6'2" pacers with high arm action are needed for steep bounce. We need a couple of accurate tall pacers with steep bounce and atleast 135 k pace. Ishant is one ( starting from the England tour ).
MK55 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Our shorter bowlers lack everything except pace or bit of swing. Lets hope for someone like Morne Morkel to emerge in the Domestic circuit which seems almost improbable ATM. The tall bowlers that we have seem to lack everything except some extra inches of height.
vijay50 Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 Gavaskar band bajana is good.Mark my words. India will get knocked out due to these losers Bhuvi , Shami, Yadav, Binny not picking wickets or early wickets and leaking lots of runs in helpful bowling conditions.
veer Posted January 21, 2015 Posted January 21, 2015 He is the best. With all the raw pace of Brett Lee' date=' Thomson, Akhtar, Lille etc. they all could never really became a McGrath.[/quote'] If you generate that much pace and running from that kind of distance, there is no way you can be as accurate as McGrath..
