But that does not make any difference in the end because those runs are eventually made up by the batsmen. If you don't pick wickets, does not matter how economical you are. Ashwin and Jaddu were also economical i n NZ, but we still had to chase bid scorers because we could not pick wickets in middle overs and when you have wickets in hand, you can score anything in last 10-15 overs, no matter who the bowler is unless you have someone like Malinga. BK has not bowled much in end overs, so, other bowlers have to suffer. BK is averaging 56 since October 2013 in 27 ODIs. If you average 56, does not matter how economical you are, you are as bad as some like Umesh who is averaging 32 since his come back from injury but with ER around 6.

I look at this Bhuv- eco rate - 4.62. When i compare it to that of others it is massive difference. Less than run an over when compared to all other bowlers. Almost 2 runs lss an over as compared to Varun. over a 10 over spell those 10 or 20 runs are gold.

But you need to look at it differently. BK In last 27 matches has an ER of 5.03, SR of 66, average of 56. He bowls most of this overs with new ball, but is not able to pick enough wickets and isn't given much bowling in end overs. Bowlers who have high ER has to bowl in those end overs and they suffer and their economy also suffer because teams have not lost many wickets and they can play with freedom. Aaron has barely played 6 ODIs since his comeback. 4 of them were in NZ where even Shami had a similar economy rate as him. One bad game in BD and one against SL recently where he got injured while bowling well. So, comparison is false. Compare with Shami, both have played similar number of games. Not even saying, Aaron is a good bowler or will make the difference. He isnt in the team and should not be there as he lacks experience. It is better for him to play FC cricket at this stage ot be able to get more consistent.

I have not said Bhuvi picks wickets. But i did say that none of our bowlers are wicket takers and that includes Bhuvi.

Shami and Umesh certainly pick more wickets, both have far better average and SR in same time period. Shami has an SR in 20s, Umesh in 30s. It does not mean they are great bowlers. Both are very average bowlers as they are expensive. But the thing is some who is economical at 5 RPO but averaging 56 is as bad as some one whose average is 32 but ER is 6 or more. You cannot say first is better than second.

Ishant sharma was one of our best bowler in the CB series 2008. Bowlers with height are handful in these conditions. i think this is a big blow since non of our bowlesr can use the bounce on offer and our 'midget' attack going to get thrashed. :((

I won't mind his higher rpo as compared to Bhuvi as he has the best wicket taking ratio. Next in is Ishant...Umesh.

This. You need at least couple of tall bowlers in Aus. If bowlers are short, they wont be able to use the bounce to their advantage. Why were Pankaj, Ishwar Pandey, Bumrah not groomed for WC by giving them a few chances in ODIs in last couple of years or so ? Shows complete lack of planning.

BK last 27 matches 20 wickets with an SR of 66. takes 11 overs to pick a wicket. Does not even have 1 wicket per match. Umesh after his come back from injury in last 25 matches 33 wickets at an SR of 33. Shami 40 matches 70 wickets SR of 28. You can see who has better SR and SR is the real indicator of ability to pick wickets. Even Aaron despite such poor ER has an SR of 34. My conclusion is they are all bad. People should stop talking how one is good and all others are bad.

^^Shami is a good bowler in ODIs. Economy rate is high because pitches are belters and heavily favor batsmen especially in India and he is generally asked to bowl in batting PP and death overs. Strike rate and average is superb. BK is nowhere as good because he doesnt pick wickets and his economy rate is low because he bowls most of his overs in first 15 overs. Dhoni handles him with kid gloves and bowls him when there is swing available with new ball.

I will counter this by saying that bowers like Shami pick most of their wickets in the death and hence their average is low. When Bhuvi is usually allowed to bowl then, he picks wickets too And whose fault is that BK doesn't get to bowl at the death? At one point he was bowling very economically in the death and was also picking wickets. But then again Dhoni has stopped letting him bowl at the death except last match he played when he was coming back from an injury BTW, I am not sure you are unaware, but Bhuvi's economy is in the low 4 in the first few overs while other bowlers are still over 5, and this is before the death overs.

Most of Shami's wickets is in the death with batsmen slogging. Whenever Bhucvi is allowed to bowl at death, he too takes wickets. And BK's economy is low in the first 15 overs even compared to other bowlers in same period Saying his economy is low because he doesn't bowl in the death when there are many, man instances of him bowling in death even in matches like Gayle 175 and still having low economy s a LIE seems like some people will make whatever stories to make BK look bad despite him being one of the best triers in the team. Whenever he has been given consistent run in the death, he has taken both wickets and bowled economically Some people will do whatever required to put down a young bowler because..........pace and speed gun

Mohit coming in is good news... He was good against England... Useful new ball bowler, and would be effective in slog overs with his slow balls on big Australian grounds... Any confirmed news on Jadeja and Rohit?

I guess we could be the only country in the world with such unequivocal love for the trundlers. I would have preferred Ishant over BK. But now that he's in, I hope he takes wickets with the new ball as that's the only thing he can be good at. Quite sure MS would not risk bowling him in the death. If he doesn't succeed, he's only gonna help the batsmen get set and then it wont matter in the death.
